      Thumbs up Greetings fellow dreamers!

      Hello everyone!
Im not too new here, made a few posts here and there but thought I should properly introduce myself

You can call me gemineye/gemini/gem whatever floats ya boat..
Im a male, from London England.
Known about lucid dreaming for over a year now, but have put my interest and heart into it fully over the past month or so, after a week of dedication i attained my first lucid! was nothing spectacular, but its gotta start somewhere

Been over a week now and still no 2nd one.. but im still determined!

Just a couple questions to get to know whoever reads this a bit better..

What countries are you all from and at what age did you start becoming interested in lucid dreaming?
How long was it before you had your second lucid, and any tips you find personally usefull to get the swing of regular lucids going? (i do rc's and self awareness everyday, plus meditation here in there, just curious as to others experiences)

Nice to meet you all and hope i get to know you all better! seems like a cool community

      Take care!

      Welcome to DV my friend,

I'm from the Philippines and got interested in LD when I was 14. It took maybe 1-2 weeks before I had my second one. What I usually do is WBTB(maybe 4-6 hours after sleep) then attempt to WILD. When I'm in an LD and the dream starts to fade off, I just let it fade off. When I know that I'm already awake and not in a dream, I don't move and wait for SP to hit again(aka DEILD). It's common for a beginner to have no LD in his first few weeks. It just takes patience and determination. Hope this helps

      Welcome to dreamviews,
I was a natural lucid dreamer as a kid, when I had recurring nightmares, of course I didn't know I was lucid dreaming, back then I just thought I had to control myself to get out of that situation.
What is your experience in lucid dreaming, what techniques are you using so I advise you on achieving your second lucid.

Nice to meet you both, thanks for the replies!
Ive been keeping a dream journal for a while now, had my first lucid the other week via DILD. Ive been checking my hands/pluggin my nose throughout the day and increasing my awareness with help of puffins SAT technique, infact i was semi lucid last night i just didnt think to confirm it to myself! but i can see my next DILD being very soon.. What im most interested in, as i assume most people, is the infamous WILD, ive tried many times, but never get too far, or end up just falling asleep. I was reading one persons technique to it earlier who said he wakes up after 6 hours, stays awake one hour, by then tiredness sets in abit but is now more aware, lays in bed for minimum 1 hour and eventually SP kicks in, i will try this tonight and report my results! i guess its a matter of finding you REM cycle, but even if i do wake up in the night (which is rare) i dont never remember. Any guides out there to help pinpoint your REM cycles?

      Thanks guys!

Firstly don't beat yourself up about not being able to WILD, it is overrated and before you start I recommend getting to the stage of frequent DILD/MILDs.
In my opinion All Day Awareness is much better than Reality Checks in the day, so keep that up as well as a daily Dream Journal.
WBTB is very important, REM occurs every 90 minutes of sleep, so try waking up 4.5 hours after going to sleep, that is the best time for me, but it varies with other people.
I advise you WBTB + Mantra to achieve MILD rather than WILD, if the dream is unstable and you back out attempt a DEILD.

      Happy Dreaming

      Yo gem, im nito!

      Also from england, from Nottingham.
Started getting interested in lucid dreaming a couple of years ago but i never pursued it any further. I found this site in may and was like... HEEELLLL YEAH! and have been into it ever since.
tbh, it took me about 2 or 3 months to get my second lucid dream. But im hoping yours will be better than mine

Also the best thing you can do is build up your recall.... When my recall is at its peak i always remember when ive woken up. Im going to start writing down times etc to better pinpoint my REM periods.

True, thanks for the advice, i realise its about your state of mind and if you get stressed out or beat yourself up you just make it even worse.
i will try that tonight then, 4.5 after i fall asleep. if it dont work atleast i get a good nap and a dream out of it. How often do you become lucid and what do you like to use as a mantra? I tried 'i am dreaming' the night of the semi-lucid, which worked, i knew i was dreaming.. but didnt realise i was dreaming, you know? so i guess 'i will realise im dreaming' should work better.. only one way to find out though

      Hello Nito!
I see i see, yeh i hope so too! lol, any tips to avoid waiting that long? what do you think set you back for them 2/3 months and would caused your next lucid, or was it just random?
I shall do that too, taking note of when i wake up etc, its just really hard to automatically think when you wake up to think of the dream you just had and to write it down, i guess persistence pays off though

my advice would be to not get lazy with your dream journal... if you read through my DJ you will easily be able to see my spikes in recall... This is mainly due to me being lazy and not writing them down.

Also keep up with the reality checks during the day, pick a technique and really stick with it for a while. It'll all pay off in the long run!

      Mantra - "I will realise I'm dream"
WBTB is based on your sleep cycles, this is a model of one, check it out!

      Good luck!

      Hello there Gem!

My name is Walker, I'm from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Nice to meet you all!

My best advice is what Arch said about all day awareness, and dream recall. The better you can remember dreams the more familiar you are with the feeling of being within a dream, your 5 senses become more acute within the dream, therefore it becomes easier for your mind to recognize the dream state. Increasing awareness in waking life transfers over into dreaming life, so become more aware while you're awake really helps too. Once you get the hang of recalling very specific details of your dreams (Scents, colours, emotions, what other dream characters say, etc) then it will be much much easier to obtain lucid dreams.

I actually used to be a frequent lucid dreamer up until about 4 years ago, when my sleep became haunted with endless reoccurring nightmares in which I was too scared to take control. Now I'm ready to start learning again, if you've got any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for graph Arch! will try working with that when working out my own REM cycles.

Hello Walker, nice to meet you. I agree, awareness is definetly key! cant wait to try again tonight, its strange, as a kid i wanted the day to last longer, now i want the night to last instead lol. Sorry to hear about your dry spell and nightmares! glad to see youve mustered up the courage to face them though! Saying that, last night i had quite an evil dream when even i couldnt handle it at one point :l lol, nice to see such a warm welcoming though, very open minded community, clearly!

How's it going Gem, I'm new to this board too. Been going lucid since I was a kid, but it wasn't until my spiritual awakening that I started to take it a whole lot more seriously. I've cooled off a bit from the Tibetan Dream Yoga days, but now I have a nice relaxed lucid dream on average once a week... with varying vividness and length, but I'm learning to stay in the dream state and control a whole lot more now ever since incorporating my Christian faith into my dream control activities.

Hey Felix/Finlander and Manco, nice to meet you all!

Thanks for the replies, gave me some more motivation! especially after a totally dreamless sleep last night (because i fell asleep after waking and forgot -_-)

I used to be good at waking up straight away and remembering my dreams without falling back asleep, now i find it really hard, and i always get 8 hours sleep.. maybe i need more?..

Anyway i look forward to getting to know you all bit better! happy dreaming!

      Hi there GemInEye,
I'm from Australia and I started lucid dreaming this year (age 16). I had my second lucid dream during an afternoon nap right after my first lucid dream. Anyway, welcome to the community, hope to see you around
Edit: I just realised you didn't tell us how old YOU are!

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!

      Hey GemInEye,

      Congrats on your first lucid!!!

I was a late starter. I'm 49 and from the US and didn't even learn about lucid dreaming until about a year ago. When I came to this site less than a month ago, I had never had a lucid dream. But after reading some of the tutorials and taking the advice of a few people, I've now had three of them, the most recent just a few hours ago.

What changed things for me was reading Puffin's tutorial on SAT: Sporadic Awareness Technique: http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/sat-sp...8/#post1507678

I think it's what's helped me acheive lucidity.
