Hey all, Quick question first time trying Lucid dreaming

Hey after finding out this website yesterday I spent hours reading all about how to lucid dreaming, When it came too actual sleeping I could not sleep, I finally zoned out at about 6am, but every time I closed my eyes a million thoughts kept going through my head and Ill keep freaking out and opening my eyes stopping myself from sleeping and I'm not sure why. When I finally got too sleep I only find myself getting woke up by my dad, I must of started screaming in my sleep and also I woke up standing up on the other side of the room and I did not know wtf was going on too as why I was standing up on the other side my room

Right now Ive had roughly 30min of sleep total and cant get too sleep, Is it common too experience paranoia when trying to lucid dream for the first time.

      Thanks!

It kind of depends on the method you may be using, have you had any sleep related issues before, do you take any medication for anything, what is your state of mind like before going to sleep, do you have any stress related problems, etc. I need some waking world details on your life in order to sort things out for you. If it's stress related I suggest giving meditation a shot.

Nup not on any meds and not one too street out too much. Ive never had a problem not sleeping, I can always get too sleep and have a good 10+ hours of sleep. But lastnight was just strange Ive never had a problem getting too sleep like that. For the sleeping walking Im known to do that every now and than and I wake up screaming quite often too or in a panic. I think it was just over thinking it too much. I can always remember my dreams pretty good, but lastnight after finally getting too sleep the dreams I had were alot more blurry than usual and for the record I did not have a lucid dream haa!

First off your dreams may have been more blurry due to the lack of sleep or change in hours of sleep you had within that night.

Next, if you did think about it too much then I think you need to ease of the thought of dreaming before you go to sleep unless you're method of lucid dreaming involves Incubation (visualization of dreaming and becoming lucid before sleep). Even then you should try to have it so you do not obsess over the concept (tough thing to do I know). So try some form of relaxation before you go to sleep and clear your mind of all thoughts and drift to sleep. If you need any more help just feel free to ask me!

      Welcome to Dreamviews,
I was paranoid when I first attempted the WILD technique, sometimes it's hard to grasp the idea that you are almost at your safest when in bed. (For most of us!)
Basically, don't worry about it, become adjusted to the feeling of it.
      Hope you enjoy your stay!

It hasn't been made clear whether Jase used the WILD technique or another technique; Jase only mentioned having a problem falling asleep until 6 am, which means Jase had a troubled night of sleep as made clear by the statement "Right now Ive had roughly 30min of sleep total and cant get too sleep, Is it common too experience paranoia when trying to lucid dream for the first time,". if anything went awry Jase merely just stressed too much about lucid dreaming before going to sleep (which happens to be common for many starting lucid dreamers). He didn't undergo SP or attempt the WILD from the information he has given, unless he didn't mention it in the thread at all.

Hey guys, Thanks for the replies, I pretty much just tried too relax first by laying on my back taking big deep breathes in and out, I tried too visualize a previous dream and kept running it threw my head while my eyes are shut. But it was a real struggle too fall asleep, after an hour or two I wake up and than I find it impossible too fall back too sleep. Last night I tried going too bed at 1am must of taken me atleast 30min too fall asleep and I woke up at around 2:30am not to be able too get back too sleep till 9am. I feel like im suffering from some sort of insomnia. I never had a problem with it since reading up/trying lucid dreaming. I think I might just try to forget that lucid dreaming exist and hopefuly my normal sleeping routine returns eg once my head hits the pillow I fall asleep without a worry.

yeah, if it's getting that bad I'd suggest to take a temporary break (its usually one of the last options , but it helps), but if you ever need any help again feel free to come ask for help. I believe at this point maybe incubation was not the best suggestion; if you do continue to try lucid dreaming I suggest you only involve this Reality Check Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views and just do your best to fall asleep at night (either don't think about dreaming or find a way to make yourself tire down fast: like a workout at night). Hope that helped and I hope you get a good night of sleep tonight!

      I remember this
The first time i ever heard of Lucid Dream i got SO EXCITED that i couldn't sleep (i think it was this summer). Today i have NO TROUBLE at all when getting to sleep. My point is that many people get excited the first time they hear about this, with practise and ALOT of patience will make you sleep like a log soon. As for the waking up somewhere else than bed... i have no answer .

Sleep in your normal sleeping position. Sleeping on your back might be screwing you up.
