      Rookie S.O.S

      Dear DVers,
I'm Diesel and I'm new to DreamViews. I have had 4 LD's in my life but had never understood how it was possile. Recently, two days ago I read on facebook about LD's and realized that's what those dreams were. From not knowing how to have LD's I have reached the fact that my lucid dreams came naturally. So, I'm kinda experienced and kind of not. Anyways, I would still consider myself a rookie because I've never had one by will. So, if anyone could help me with this I'd be very happy. Once Again the task is : [] Lucid Dream at Will.
P.S: Is DILD when you tell yourself you are goin to sleep and when you dream you should realize you are sleeping-lucid? If not, what's the technique called?

      Hi Diesel.

DILD is the typ of a dream, when you have regular dream and you suddenly realize, you are dreaming. The method how to do this is called MILD. So you want to practice MILD to have more lucid dreams like the ones you already had. It involves daytime awarenes, doing reality checks, saying some mantras and believing in yourself. You'll find more about this in tutorials here in DV Wiki.

Another methods you may want to check out are DEILD and WILD. But the DILD is the easiest one and you already had some of those, so I would just learn how to stabilize to make them last longer and get some ideas from posts about some fun stuff to do when lucid.

You may want to start a dream journal, there is one here on DV, it will help you remember your dreams, so you don't end up having LDs and not remembering them in the morning.

      Good luck!

If you want to be able to lucid dream at will, then you might want to try the WILD technique. It requires some training to master (just like with every technique), but then you can lucid dream whenever you want!

Did you try this at the beginning of the night? If so, that explains why it didn't work for you. Instead, sleep for at least 4-6 hours before attempting a WILD. Then you'll enter REM sleep faster and easier. It also works when taking a nap.

To WILD, you must fall asleep. That means that you can't be too aware, as it will keep you awake. Focus slightly on something if you must, like the sound of your breathing. Keeping consciousness will get easier with some training.

You don't have to stay perfectly still. Just fall sleep as you normally would do, because it doesn't harm if you move when you need to. You must feel comfortable, so that you'll fall asleep. And when you reach REM sleep, you will experience sleep paralysis. This will most likely feel very overwhelming for the first time, but after a few tries it's not a big deal anymore. From sleep paralysis, a lucid dream is not far away...

It's actually easy to transition into a lucid dream. I don't have to do anything special, other than not thinking about anything. Don't try to force yourself into a dream. Just keep calm and wait, as it shouldn't take many seconds until the transition into a dream starts by itself. When I'm in sleep paralysis, it feels like my whole body is vibrating and tingling, and when this feeling stops I know that I'm dreaming. Keep in mind that all my WILDs have started with me lying in my bed, so it's really hard to tell that you're dreaming unless you do a reality check to confirm it!

There's another WILD technique in which you visualize a dream. You should make it as real as possible, like touching things and imagine how it would feel. Try to use all your senses in your visualisation. Sooner or later, this will turn into a real dream which you will be lucid in. I haven't tried it, but I'm sure it works.

I hope that this will help you!

Oh, wow. This is some really good advice. I'm actually writing this down for later. And I had no idea that you should sleep 4-6 hours then do it, i thought it was before sleep. Thank you, thnk you, and thank you for this brilliant advice. I can't wait for tonight.
