      Attempting WILDs

I have been trying to lucid dream for the past couple weeks now and I have not been successful but once so far for about 20 seconds. Last night I tried to WILD. I used some binaural beats, which definitively helped my concentration for staying aware. I have found that for me most if not all the previous lucid dreams I have had through out my life have been while I was sleeping on my back. Those were all non intentional. I tried to WILD on my back, which was the only position I could remain aware in. I started to feel my body become numb for the first time, so my heart began to race and caused me to back track a bit, but after the next few times I was able to keep myself calm. I continued to see where it would take me. I let my mind wander and tried to not lose focus or get to excited. I would start to see what were almost dreams, or thoughts of random things happening, not necessarily in my room but anywhere. I would say after about 10 - 15 seconds, I would always hear a noise of somekind. It would always bring back to full consciousnesses. I am a musician, and oddly enough I remember most of the sounds each time being an instrument of some kind.

Anyways everytime I would get close to forgetting about my body and the sounds in my room(its in the basement so I always hear the furnace going) these suddens noises in my head would always wake me back up. Its not that they scared me or really made me jump, but I just could not get past them. I was calm enough, but there is no warning for these sounds and they always come out of nowhere. I tried WILDing for about 3 1/2 hours and then just gave up. I was only able to stay in the same sleeping position and stay comfortable that long because my body was mostly numb that whole time. The first time I think I almost was crossing over was when I began to feel my upper body and head becoming somewhat numb and my eyes starting moving and twitching under my eyelids. But this was in the beginning of my attempt and I got too excited, and woke up again. I was not able to do this again for the rest of the night, only the seeing images and then the sudden sound thing. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. Sorry for being a long.

I believe that if you're going to always hear the furnace, you should use that noise as a white noise to help with keeping awareness. If you say that you're good at remembering most of the sounds, it would be useful to use that to your advantage when you realize you don't hear the furnace anymore (but don't focus too much on it, just passively acknowledge it).

You can even use the mentality that it sounds like an instrument playing as a possible anchor to keep awareness while falling asleep!

Just a suggestion. And yes WILD can be a pain sometimes , but once you find the right anchor, it'll get easier (I'm focusing on practicing an anchor for a month to see if it'll work for WILDS myself). Good luck, and hope this helps

And you can read up on these guides for more depth on WILDS, WILD is something you have to see what others think about it, and formulate your own reasoning to get results (since everyone is different in how they can keep aware)

And it'll take a few tries to get used to not getting excited from the experience as well.

I tried to use the furnace as an anchor but it turns on for 30 minutes then off for the 30 minutes so I didnt work out for me. I have tried white noise, music, etc but I ended up having to use earplugs since it seems when I was trying to WILD, any noise would keep me awake, now if there was only way to mute the sound of my breathing. I tried using the rumble feature of xbox controller up against my leg as an anchor with no luck.

I have not been able to get to SP yet, I think I have been very close though. My body has gotten completely numb and my face as well but with feeling still in the back of head. When I have been at this point I can feel myself slipping away, and my body starts vibrating and feeling like its not there, I try to focus on whatever light I may see under my eyelids, I see a few things but nothing interesting. At this point I cant go any further, I never hear any noises or see anything that looks like anything interesting. I'm just stuck. If I let my mind wander, Ill start to have what I think of as mini dreams where random events happen but when I fall asleep doing it this way I have know awareness what so over.

I finally got my self to fall asleep on my back, my dreams were 20x more realistic in terms of visual, audio etc, and what was actually happening. But I still just went with the flow of the dreams. I do reality checks all the time throughout the day but I have never been able to any reality checks in my dreams, most of the time it feels like I am not there to do anything. So if I try to maintain my awareness while I fall asleep , I wont fall Asleep and if I let go I will fall asleep but wont be lucid.

So I dont what to do. Any other ideas as I cant think of any.

Try to practice other techniques if it doesn't work out for you.

Try this, Do a WBTB (Wake Back To Bed)..try to get 4-6 hours of sleep. (Don't try to focus on awareness, just fall asleep)

Then when you wake up, get up for a little while, and say a mantra that you know that can be remembered while you doze off to sleep. When you think your mind is cleared, just repeat the chant until you feel it's going to be the last thing on your mind. Try that out for a while. (MILD takes a while to kick in, but once you get the hang of it, you can lucids almost everyday if you want).

Don't expect any signs of SP, the more you do that, the more you focus on your body because you want to feel changes. Just relax and calm down. Just try to think about something, doze off, bring it back again. It's hard because you're experiencing something that usually happens when you fall unconscious. It takes time, if you want to WILD, continue WILDing, but know it's going to take practice.

If you want to have a more easier route, try the WBTB and then do a MILD (example: I will have a lucid dream tonight). It might take a weeks, a month, or more, it just depends on your intent in the mantra. If you motivate yourself and become confident and have strong mindset, it helps a lot.

      Hope this helps.
