Welcome to DreamViews, Richard!
If you wake up in the morning and can't remember any dreams, you can try to lie completely still in bed. That way your mind will think you want to go back to sleep, and will access the part of your brain where dreams are created. There's a good chance you'll recall something then.
I suggest writing in your dream journal, even if you don't remember any dreams from that night. Write something down like "I could not recall anything". That way you are basically telling yourself that you want to recall your dreams, and your mind should pay more attention to recalling them.
As for techniques, I would recommend starting with the MILD technique or the DILD technique. Both of these techniques don't require you to wake up during the night. Due to its difficulty, the WILD technique is usually only recommended for experienced lucid dreamers. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties with this website, the tutorials don't seem to be accessible at the moment, but this should be fixed soon.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
