      Hi Nathan, welcome to DV!

I also practice daytime awareness, RCs and mantras for DILDs. I think it's an excellent technique. Dream journal is great to get your dream recall up.

No need to rush to do a WILD Have you concidered trying a DEILD? It's a shortened WILD. Look it up so you are ready for it. It doesn't involve any work like WILD does.

      Good luck!

I would happily try WILD but a year back I had 2 Sleep Paralysis Ocurances in 3 days, which really freaked me out. Thanks for your help!

I have never experienced SP, but I understand what you talking about. It can be scary, but be assured, that it can't harm you. I believe SP is a gateway to lucid dreams, when you have it, you are half way there. Just close your eyes and wait for images to appear behind your eyelids, that will turn into movies. Then what I do, is pick a spot in the movie and say while believing it : I ...am....there. Then i'm transported into the lucid dream.

Maybe someone with SP experience can tell you more.

DEILD is, when you wake up from a lucid dream and you remember not to move at all, not even opening your eyes. Unless you were at the end of your REM, you should within seconds enter another (or the same) LD. Since you don't move, you can't tell if you in SP or not.

I had DEILD once. Didn't feel the SP, but had some visual and auditory halucination, that lasted just a few seconds, before I entered another LD. So even if that's scary, it shouldn't last too long. I think you have a better chance to see scary stuff if you think/worry about that.

Well, I did experience paralysis once, but it was when i was waking up, not falling asleep. I had no idea what was going on, so yes, that was uncomfortable. But now, i don't think I would be scared of it, since I know exactly what it is. And if you search, you'll find some info on how to get out of SP, by starting to move your toes and fingers.

Did you have hallucinations while in SP, that's why you not eager to repeat that?

No no hallucinations, i was under my blanket, it also happened both times while i was waking up. Its not that i think it can harm me, its just the feeling of being powerless and unable to move. Any examples of hallucinations?

Well, I think the hallucinations are behind your closed eyelids. What I saw was a face distorded from screaming and I heard that scream. This was when DEILDing.
During my paralysis, I saw aliens around the table I was on and I felt them touching me. Unpleasant.

But you can hear, sea and feel pretty much anything. There is a thread here somewhere about hallucinations people get. Once I heard a door creaking open in the middle of the room.

Once you read about it, it won't be that scary.

My normal waking time is anywhere from 7 am to 9 am. From this I derived my WBTB time. I wake up 1 hour before my usual waking time, stay up for 1 hour, do some MILD excercise and go to sleep. It's a modification of technique from this article:

...Condition A, participants awakened 90 minutes before their normal waking time, stayed up for 90 minutes, and did a special MILD exercise for 10 minutes before falling back to sleep for a 90-minute nap. In Condition A (delayed nap), 8% of participants had lucid dreams in the night, and 67% in the nap...

      Wakefulness Makes Lucidity More Likely

      Hey Nathan!

Sounds like you are taking things slow and one step at a time, which is good! SAT/DILD is a great technique! I hope you end up having success with it soon. I advise you to keep up with your dream journal and write in it daily. You will be surprised how much is actually helps you achieving lucid dreams. You don't have to try WILD if you don't want to. Just stick with your current technique and keep consistent. If you have any questions..please post them! You can also PM me for any advice. Good luck!

I would advise you to read the tutorials from DV Wiki. The more you read, the better you'll be prepared. Once in a LD, you will be surprised, how much from what you have read you acctually remember.

Stay calm, stabilize, and don't try anything too crazy for the first couple of LDs. Above all, believe in yourself, and you will have LDs in no time

Heres an important question to me, is Lding somthing like a normal dream where you remember you HAD the experience but generally you dont remember much and its oblivious it didnt happen in rea life

where in a LUCID dream its like you know you did it and it feels like you did it in real life, like when in the dream you are actually there and not just looking back on it when you wake up.

      Is this correct?

Although some Lucid dreams can feel like waking life, there is never any question in your mind, that it's a dream. When you wake up, you don't feel like you had a real experience, you know for sure, that it was a dream. But the cool stuff you get to do can make your experience and memory of it stronger.

If you don't wake up after a lucid to write it down, there is a good chance you will forget it by morning, just like you would with regular dream. That's because dreams (lucids and regulars) are stored in different part of our brain than waking experiences. Which is good, otherwise we would have no chance to distinguish between memories of dreams and waking world.

Ill put it like this, you know it was a dream but knowing it was a dream, did it still feel like you ACTUALLY experienced it and isnt just a memory?

In one of my LDs, I was flying through some bushes and branches were hitting me in my face. I was turning my head and closing my eyes, so my eyes don't get hurt. I definitelly felt it, as if real branches were hitting me on my real face. I felt the coolnes of the leaves and wind blowing. But when I woke up, I knew for sure, it was a dream. I'm sorry, I can't explain it better. Hurry up and have your LD, so you know how it feels It's really awesome.

For me it's like remembering a vacation I took or a project I've done or something, like it's just another thing I've done. So yeah, it's like your actually there doing it, and then when you wake up you remember it like anything else.
