      hi dream views world

Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I'm excited to start putting all of the knowledge I'm gathering into practice. I've been hearing more and more about lucid dreaming lately, and I finally decided to start learning how to control my dreams. I've only ever had 2 lucid dreams, but they were a while ago and accidental. From what I've learned so far it seems like hard work, practice and consistency are the only ways to be successful, but I'm ready to put in the time for something as rewarding as dream control. Wish me luck, and I thank all of you for the helpful tips in advance.

      goodnight,
      -Leap Of Faith

Welcome to Dreamviews! No worries, practicing is not hard, but you do have to be consistent and you have to have the drive. You could start with this tutorial to familiarize yoursef with the whole concept of lucid dreaming. Looking forward to your posts. Happy dreams

      Hello LeapOfFaith, welcome to DV!

Would you care to tell us what those lucid dreams were like? If you had them accidentally, it might be easier for you to start having them intentionally! Have you started writing in a dream journal? Have you chosen your induction technique? Do you have a few goals for what to do once you are having a LD? The guide that Gab posted gives you a lot of the beginner information needed to start lucid dreaming.

      Welcome to DreamViews LeapOfFaith!

While it's true that hard work, practice and consistency are huge factors in attaining lucidity, so is motivation, enthusiasm and fun! And I find that motivation can be infectious, which is one of the many reasons I love this site. If you're interested, an intro class in the Dream Views Academy is about to start where you can start a journal, a workbook, and participate in live chats with an instructor. If you would like, I can add you to the PM list and you'll get more details.

      Hey LeapOfFaith, welcome to Dreamviews!

I suggest you check out this beginner's guide to lucid dreaming if you haven't already. It gives you all the basic info you need to get started! Also just browsing around the site (forums, wiki, main page, dream journals, etc..) you are sure to find a bunch of tips everywhere! My biggest advice would to just stay motivated and keep trying. Don't give up! If you have any questions feel free to message me or another staff member. See you around!

I don't have any goals to recommend, no. One of the most common desires when people start to LD is to fly, and you've already tried it! I started a document a few weeks ago, and whenever I think of something, I add it to my list of LD goals! A lot of it is based off of stuff I've seen in anime and video games, some of it is ideas I've seen in various DV threads. One good idea I've seen is asking the dream to let you feel or become unconditional love. A couple of other forum members had amazing experiences that way. A lot of my goals are personal to me too. I think making a growing list helps with motivation, so consider starting your own.

It's a shame that you lost the details of your first few LDs, but it's good you still remember the important parts! That first dream is always amazing. Even if you can't remember anything else in the dream, that first realization that you're dreaming is a very powerful feeling.

I'm glad you already started a DJ! Take your time choosing a technique. You can try a few out at once if you'd like as well. Just make sure that any technique you try out, stick with it for at least 3 weeks. Some of them might take up to a few months to work.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Good luck! I'm sure you'll be successful in having more lucids!

Edit: This is supposed to be beneath LeapOfFaith's posts. Not sure why it isn't.

Thank you! I wish I could remember more about my first lucid dreams, but they were so long ago that the details are very fuzzy. The main thing I remember from the first one is not so much the dream, but just waking up and thinking how strange/awesome it was that I realized I was dreaming and was able to interact with the dream. The second one I was in a park of some sorts and there was a lot of people around talking to each other. I was able to fly and move around, but I was only able to hover a few feet off the ground. I think I realized I was dreaming when I realized I was the only one flying around having fun. To answer your other questions... Yes! I have started a dream journal that I keep by my bed. I also plan on starting one on here as well. I have not chosen an induction technique yet. I'm still researching all the different ones, and to my surprise there was a lot more then I thought there would be. As for goals, I haven't given that much thought. My main goal is just to try and realize that I'm dreaming without waking up. Would you have any recommendations for goals for someone like me just starting out?

Thanks! I just replied to Caenis with the same answer, but my main goal was to just actually get to have a lucid dream. I haven't really given goals much thought until you two mentioned it so I was wondering.. do you had any suggestions for easy goals for a beginner like me?

It's allways good to plan out what you want to do in your LD. Once you are lucid, it's sometimes hard to think of something to do. But if you have a goal that you write down in your DJ, you think about it during day, when you become lucid, it's a good chance, you will remember it.

For the starters, you could familiarize yourself with Dream stabilization and Dream control. You will find many good info in DV Wiki and in the posts. This will help you make your dreams longer and stable, so you have time to do more things.

You could talk to dream characters, walk around and take in the sights, do some flying. You can get some ideas in this thread. Happy dreams
