Hello all. I'm really glad I discovered this site, I have read some much valuable information on here and I look forward to becoming a part of this community!

I had two lucid dreams when I was a kid but they were both random and ages ago. The first one I tried to fly. I flew out my bedroom window but when I turned, my body turned but I still kept moving in the same direction until I slammed into a tree and woke up. My brother had told me flying in dreams was hard but I never believed him until that night.

4 days ago I decided to research the subject. I ordered Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming from Amazon (and received same day delivery!). I am currently on Ch4 of this fantastic book.

My first night of trying, I used an Android app. It was one of those brainwave ones. It seemed to help with dream recall (remembered 4 that night) but that was about all. The next two nights I used some MP3s I found on this site but still nothing. Then last night, without any audio aid, I had my first intentional lucid dream.

My dreamsign was my front door. I have two deadbolts that I lock every night. However, in my dream there were three deadbolts. I didn't notice at first, I just locked all three. I rechecked the locks after turning them and saw they were unlocked again. Still didn't catch on. I relocked the first two and as I was locking the third I noticed that anyone on the other side of the door could see into my apartment when the deadbolt wasn't set due to a 1" gap between the door and frame. Then it clicked that this couldn't be real. I'm too paranoid to have not noticed something like that in real life! I pinched my nose shut and breathed in and realized I WAS DREAMING!

Prior to becoming lucid my dream lacked color but the moment I became aware everything was in full color. It wasn't HD quality, was more like standard definition (DVD quality).

I decided to give flying a second chance. I was going to walk outside to take flight but remembering this was all a dream I lifted up, closed my eyes and passed through the wall and took flight over some town (I believe this was a town from a show I watched that did some aerial shots). After a few minutes I landed and tried to manipulate my environment but it seems that this takes a bit more concentration. I will have to practice this more next time. Unfortunately, it was cut short when my alarm clock went off this morning

I'm officially hooked. I can't wait for my next one!
