In a lucid dream, you may have different levels of control, or no control at all. LD simply is a dream, in which you realize, you are dreaming. When LD starts as a regular dream, this moment of realization is usually accompanied by a very strong feeling of happiness and excitement.

I would not recommend melatonin for lucid dreaming at all. I have read, that even a dose as small as 0.5mg can hinder lucid dreams. As a sleep aid, 0.3 mg should be enough.

Excellent WILD class is here in DV Academy. Read the lessons, really good info. But I would recommend you start out with DILD, as in general it's easier to start with. Here is one of the tutorials for DILD and many more in DV Wiki.

MILD is great. You have better chance, if you add DILD to it (daytime awareness, RCs and mantras).

Motivation and believing in yourself is perhaps the most important part in LDing. Happy dreams
