The n-th Flying Dutchman has arrived

Considering how I have been a registered lurker for a long time without properly introducing myself, I figured: "Why not introduce myself right now".

So here I am, my name is Maarten and I'm from the Netherlands (no, not Amsterdam and not from Holland and no I do not smoke weed). I'm a student, studying mathematics and physics.

Got interested in Lucid dreaming about 2 years ago (to the best of my knowledge). I have only had little success in LD'ing though. Mostly due to my interest in the topic dwindling from time to time (or so I think). I have one lucid experience that I can remember to this day, others might have been forgotten in morning routine, which involves waking up late and hastily running out the door.

I do have a DJ, though I haven't updated the one here in well over a year. There are some other logs in my bedside journal that I might add to the online journal soon.

I hope that with renewed persistence, I might actually get a decent LD. Oh and actually remembering would be nice.

EDIT: I just found out, I have a boat load of dreams in my bedside journal, dating all the way back to April 28th last year. Oops?

Welcome to the forum! Hopefully you spent the last year-and-a-half learning a lot about lucid dreaming!

Writing things down daily would really help your efforts. It will allow your mind to see dreams as important memories worth retaining which will increase your chances of lucidity.

When you wake up try spending a few moments with your eyes closed and see if some of the dream content returns to your mind. I sometimes wake and forget my dreams then suddenly recall them in a flash when I visit the bathroom. Memory is so weird.

Netherlands, eh? I thought I heard somewhere that the region was starting to try and reduce the influence of weed and the perception that the area was a pot-smoker's haven.

As members of DreamViews come from all over the world it would hardly seem fair to stereotype someone based on where they were born or live. We all dream and bleed the same.

Don't worry, I didn't expect anyone to do so. I have been lurking here long enough to recognize the awesome community here.

As for the closing eyes to remember, I'll try not to fall asleep when doing so

Hello Maarten, I hope you start remembering your dreams again! I know it's difficult when you have to get up in the morning, but that's what weekends are for.

A physics student, eh? That must be fascinating. Complex, but fascinating. I agree with melanieb, I could get lost in your avatar.

Remembering my dreams seems to be the most difficult thing for me, I tried to remember this morning but in the end I wasn't able to separate memories from the actual dreams from fabrications that had entered my mind moments before, in my half-awake state. So yeah... that didn't go so well. Nevertheless I did write down something, so it's not a total waste. Right?

I guess smashing your head into the bedside wall doesn't help much either...
