You guys are just too good!

I've had a lot of questions on my mind to ask about LD and so forth, but every time i type in a question, someone has already asked it and it's been answered in depth. I'll never get any interacting in! So hey, i'm new to this whole thing. I heard about lucid dreaming from that awful 9gag picture, you know the one that paints it to be so easy- google 9gag lucid dreaming if you don't know what i mean.

Anyway, i didn't think it could be that simple, so i've done as much research as i can and built up what i think is a pretty good understanding of the theory behind it. I know putting it into practice is a different thing entirely though. As i have such terrible dream recall, i mean TERRIBLE, like one dream remembered a month or something, i've decided to work on that for a few weeks/months until i can improve it drastically. in the mean time i'm also performing regular reality checks and trying to question the nature of awake/asleep. I'm finding it very interesting.

I already seem to have improved my dream recall with a little effort and mental reenforcement. As i went to sleep last night i told my self repetitively to wake up after dreaming so i would remember it, and by writing them down as i awoke, i remembered 3 dreams last night. Perhaps this was just coincidence or the fact that i have been dwelling on dreaming so much in waking hours, but i see it as a step in the right direction.

Good day to you all, and sweet dreams

It sounds like you stumbled on to the MILD (mnemonic (mantra) induced lucid dream) technique. This is when you tell yourself as you fall asleep that you will have a lucid dream or you will remember your dreams, whichever you are trying to accomplish. It works wonders when it comes to remembering your dreams and is also a great way to start having LDs. This in combination with the fact that you have dreaming on your mind throughout the day (5%* of our waking life is transferred into your dreams) is probably the main cause your dream recall has skyrocketed.

As far as having lucid dreams it sounds like you are on the ideal path and should be having some in no time! Just remember that it isn't as easy as everything makes it sound and will take a while (the average time between finding out what it is and having your first one is from a couple weeks to a couple months) but you are looking perfect. Just remember to keep a positive mindset and keep up the good work!

*I can't remember the exact number but it's about 5%, maybe more, maybe less. Your waking life still has an impact on your dreams though.

      Welcome to the forum, Slashcat!

I bet you'll still have plenty to talk about, even when so many questions get answered. Even topics that have been discussed frequently often get reassessed. I know I learn something new nearly every day.

Working on your recall will help you greatly, and I am pleased to see you writing your dreams down. Examining them can help you identify common elements (dream signs) that you might recognize as occurring in your dream...such as standing naked on a stage, or breathing under water. When you recognize common recurring elements it's more likely you will become lucid upon seeing them in future dreams.

Looking around the forum you might notice we have a WIKI section, classes to help people with technique, areas for discussion of alternative occurrences and a whole area devoted to talking about...well, nothing (senseless banter). Check them all out!

      Happy dreaming!

That chart makes it seem so easy. I guess it is true. It is the easiest thing in the world... when everything goes perfect. Every time I lucid dream, I think it is some sort of breakthrough, because it seems so easy. Every time I fail, it seems like I will never lucid dream again.

You are doing the right thing by working on your recall. With a little attention, dreams become so vivid, memorable, and realistic.

Thanks for the advice and things guys.

That's really interesting Burke, i've read up on the mantras now. And i think it must be more like 50 percent for me because i've noticed the only dream sign i could find is things that are happening in real life but exaggerated. which is barely useful XD And i hope you're right about that. i've set a target for myself of about two to three months. The quote from your DC is hilarious XD And i like the quote from Light too, I love death note ^^

Thanks for the welcome melanieb i'll bear that in mind

Robot_Butler, you make it sound like a very black and white thing, that doesn't have levels of success. i suppose thats reassuring in a way because you are able to keep doing it even when it feels like you'll never do it again. the key is not giving up i suppose!

Hahaha me too! The first time I heard about Sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming was from 9gag, but I don't 9gag anymore
And of course these stuff are very interesting, lastly, I'm also a very big fan of death note. Welcome
