Thumbs up Trying so hard to Lucid Dream... Wish me luck!

Hey everyone~ I'm SzuruDusk! You can call me Moki though. I like it here on DreamViews! I hope you'll take good care of me.

I'm so excited to explore my dreams and my mind with everyone else... but it's a bit more difficult than I once imagined. Is it worth the perseverance?

I've been trying to do my RCs everyday and recognize Dream Signs... but I've gotten nothing but dimly recalled Non-lucid dreams and hours of wasted time trying to WILD. (I have a really hard time trying to force myself to sleep. :\ )

Maybe my excitement is getting the best of me?

Yes, your perseverance is indeed worth it. Lucid dreaming is one of the most incredible things you can experience and you can do anything you want, you're only limited by your imagination. Even then you can read around on the forums or online for more ideas if you run out. Also, during your WILDs don't force yourself to sleep, just let it happen naturally while trying to keep that delicate balance of consciousness. If you force yourself to sleep you'll have a very tough time getting through SP and HH (if you have them).

It's probably not your excitement getting to you, that's good motivation. However you could be trying too hard or getting stressed out. If you feel yourself getting stressed out or getting really angry at not having any LDs just let off it a little bit and relax a little. But if you aren't stressed out at all then keep pushing, you'll get there soon and it will definitely be worth the wait .

Remember, when it comes to dream control, confidence is everything.

Practice self-hypnosis, convince yourself that you can and will have perfect control over your dreams.
And every time you do exert this control, your confidence will grow stronger and stronger.

Welcome to Dreamviews, Moki Of course we will take good care of you XD .....unless you break the rules. Then you will die o_o. (just kidding)

ANYWAY, it is worth the perseverance! Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier. Then once you have amazing regular lucid dreams, the effort will be worth it. How long have you been trying to lucid dream? It can take people weeks or months or more to have a lucid dream. It just depends on the person. Don't give up!

If you have any more questions just ask!

Thanks everyone. :3 I think that I am getting pretty stressed out by the lack of lucids through WILD's. I do sort of try to force sleep in my attempts but... that's just making it worse. Dx As soon as I focus on sleeping, it suddenly becomes impossible. My swallowing problem doesn't make it any easier either. Maybe I should pick up meditation?

I really am not happy with the idea of MILDS/DILDS because of how random they occur. You know? I want to fall into a lucid dream with the direct intention to do so! Am I being too impatient?

I've had only one Lucid Dream before, but it was 8 years ago. I was able to fly just by willing it, but the dream quickly fell apart. Just last night though, I flew for the first time that I could remember since. No lucid, just dream control. This HAS to be a result of my new-found-interest in Lucid Dreaming. So at least I'm making progress. xD

Being stressed definitely doesn't help with trying to fall asleep, whether you are trying to do so while remaining aware or not. Unfortunately, it's not like you can just decide to stop being stressed. You could try using relaxation techniques, though, or just take a break and try again when you are less stressed. As to swallowing too often, it might actually help if you don't try so hard to stay still. You're going to end up swallowing while you are trying to fall asleep, so just let it happen and try not to pay attention to it (easier said than done, of course). At what time of day do you usually try to WILD?

I set an alarm for about 5:30AM sometimes, but then I just fall back asleep.
And if I'm taking an afternoon nap, around 5-6M. I can't consciously make myself sleep then.

My swallowing's been getting better though... I just had to think to myself, "It won't affect anything. It's not a bad thing." That way I didn't curse myself for everytime I did. xD
