      New and excited!

Hey my name is John and I started my journey to learn this awesome skill just a couple weeks ago. I was just curious of how some experienced members got started and into it. Honestly Inception is what got me into the whole idea but now after reading a couple things I briefly saw on the forums and through my research, I'm just in general excited!

      Hey John!
I'm Stewart, this is my first post.
I'm 14, been lucid dreaming about once a week for as long as I can remember, only found out it was called "lucid dreaming" a year ago.
I'm going to try out some techniques to make it even better. My dreams usually involve, ahem, certain stuff I can't legally do in real life, and flying. Flying is great, but sometimes even when I'm lucid I can't get airborne. My dream recall is fine, I usually remember at least two dreams a night.
I have "dream stability" issues, hopefully I'll Lucid Dream tonight and test out the "stability" techniques- rubbing palms together, spinning around, etc.
Just discovered this website tonight, seems like a cool place

Thats awesome man! I'm still getting the hang of everything but I'm doing constant reality checks and hopefully in time I can become lucid as often as you! Let me know how your testing goes too. And this website is super helpful

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it, just figure out which techniques work for you and you'll be lucid dreaming regularly in no time! What I do is called a DILD, and it's sort of spontaneous currently, so I'm working on DEILDs because they're meant to be the most reliable and easy mrthod.
      Good luck

      Welcome to Dreamviews John!

Never saw Inception, but I know many people found us because of it. Excitement is great, keep it going and motivate yourself by reading as much as you can on DV. In case you interested, here is a great Beginners guide.

      Welcome to Dreamviews, Stewart!

Another natural, I see. Awesome! Yup, that "certain stuff" is #2 on the "lucid dreamer's to do list", right behind #1 Flying. I see you have already found some stabilization techniques. Good luck using them.

Looking forward to your posts, guys, and any questions you may have. Happy dreams

      Hey John, welcome to Dremviews!

Inception has gotten a lot of people into lucid dreaming! It is not entirely accurate when it comes to lucid dreaming, though. :p You can have a dream inside a dream and there are no layers. The movie is good for inspiration though.

I recommend you read this beginners guide to lucid dreaming. It will get you started in the right place.

Recall is the base of lucid dreaming. Without it, everything else wont work. You would be surprised how helpful keeping a dream journal is! I also recommend you take a look at the Wiki and just read around!

If you have any questions, please ask! Good luck, John!

      Thanks for the welcome!
Well, John, it might seem good to have lucid dreams once a week, but it's just not enough for me! Sadly, I read about the stability techniques about five days ago, and I've not had a chance to test them out yet. I'm wanting to move on to better stuff like creating a town- which will gradually become bigger- inside my dreams, which I shall revisit constantly. Sort of like an "astral palace", but without the meditation.
Also, I'm writing a book. Dreams are a good source of inspiration as your subconscious seems to be more creative.
I'll work on the DEILDs as I've heard that people can actually chain together more than one lucid dream in a night, and I'd love to be that capable.
I've heard of "autosuggestion" and "mantras" before in a book called The Secret, it seems very logical that they would work well while you're asleep, so I'll give them a shot.
The problem is, my "DILDs" are spontaneous- I'm like, "hey, I'm dreaming" sometimes, and other times, really wierd stuff can happen- like me suddenly having three granddads- and I just go with it. So I'm trying to get into the habit of doing reality checks more often.
About Inception, I have had a dream within a dream before, and I think they have the "stability" thing right. It was very wierd and difficult to control. Not sure about the "layers", but an obvious difference is that in the movie, the characters use a special machine to "share" dreams. Anyway, a movie is a movie, it's interesting and thankfully it's raised awareness about lucid dreaming!

      Cool

aw dang. Last night was my closest to becomming fully aware to be honest. I had a typical dream and whilst in the dream I "woke up" as though I was in my bed and my typical routine anymore is to write down my dream and do a reality check. Well as I lean over to begin writing down the dream I hear my phone ring and wake up for real. Sadly, I didn't get to perform my reality check in the dream Maybe next time!

I also started taking Melatonin a bit before bed as well as Vitaman B6 supplements and I can honestly say I think they are helping me. The B6 is definately assisting me in remembering my dreams and possibly making them more vivid. Instead of remembering little tid bits, I'm remembering "story-lines". Wish me luck, off to bed I go soon!
