Hi and welcome! As you know, humans are very curious. An answer is needed as fast as possible and when you can't come up with a good one, you make one up. You try to be logical and reasoned based on what is available at that time. People back in the day didn't know how dreams worked or why we had them, actually we barely do now, but we know alot more now than we did before.

I can't tell you how it all started, but claiming to know that when dreaming about a dove flying above you means you'll get lucky in the next few days feels to me like bogus. Something someone's made up. Now there's alot in dreams that you do can trace back to real life, like having a period in your life when you dream of being chased, murdered, raped etc. You're obviously not feeling good about something or is anxious. Bright and violent free dreams often means you're feeling good in your life, and sex dreams can mean you're sexually frustrated.

Even these examples aren't on the spot all the time. But if you're interested in Dream Interpretations then you can check out this part of the forum: http://www.dreamviews.com/f30/

      Welcome to the forum!

Dream Interpretation has been around for thousands of years, dating back to the times when people would treat a significant dream as an omen or sign for everything from danger and bad weather to people hating each other and placing curses on their enemies.

Go check out the section Matte87 linked you to and share your dreams! We look forward to reading them!

These guys, bless 'em, gave great answers to your very difficult question about a truly nebulous subject, Mydreams; I hope you heed them!

Dream interpretation has been around for about five minutes longer than humans have been dreaming, and the art of interpreting accurately has never been perfected. When psychoanalysis reached it's zenith back in the mid-20th century, they discovered that dream interpretation lies not in a set of rules, comparable symbols, or expert opinion, but in the mind of the dreamer herself. So try to keep this in mind as you search for meaning in your dreams: dream interpretation is ancient, complex, and ultimately up to you...
