      Hi everyone

I'm 16 years old. I've started practicing lucid dreaming in march this year. Had about ten or more lucid dreams. Unfortunately, after 1.5 months I gave up writing down my dreams. (on avarage it took me an hour a night to write down the dreams, not counting the time to fall asleep again). So I lost motivation. And that was it until one month ago when I started again. First 2 nights and I didn't want to continue. But I had couple of lucid dreams so they remotivated me, but eventually the school started, new class etc. I didn't think of dreams for the first two weeks. So here I go again from the start of previous weekend. Hope I will succed in fighting laziness. I think if you're lazy person, you can never stop, never take a night off, no exceptions. That's what I have to do. Also from what I read it seems laziness is a common problem there. :d So I registered here to keep thinking, talking about LDs and never forget how amazing experience it is.

Welcome, and wow! Ten dreams in six weeks is great. You really need to find a reason for doing all this, like you said, you need to have your motivation up and running 24/7. I did a big list of goals and decided to achieve them. I started out slowly with some superpowers so that I could navigate more and ended up trying to teleport to the world I intended to go to. Make a dream map, read other people's DJ's and your own, watch movies and get inspiration from there, same with series or books. If you come up with something really awesome to do that is kinda hard, you'll want to work towards that goal.

Good luck! You seem to have natural talent at this, don't squander it for a cheaper and lazier form of entertainment like video games. It doesn't take much effort to get lucid, you can play video games during the day and play an even more awesome video game during the night

Hi, thanks. You encouraged me to do a little statistics from that period. 10-11 definately lucid dreams, some very short, some a little longer. But overall I had one very short ld which was super vivid, and that was my first. It really seemed more vivid than real life. Maybe 3-4 lds which I did a little exploring. Rest were short and boring. In none of my others ld I have the kind of vivdness like in the first. And half of my LD's were trigerred by falling asleep in a dream. Feels like WILD, but it was in dream definately.
And not counting the LDs I had about 5 dreams where I dreamt about being lucid.
If I remeber correctly I had maybe 2 lds after I stopped recalling dreams.
In last month period I had one LD and one dream about LD.

Are there any lucid dream related movies? Except Inception ofcourse, watched it twice this year and I think I'm gonna watch it again :d

Welcome! As Matte87 said you seem to have good conditions for dreaming, keep the motivation up! And if you care about improving your recall you should check out my Dream Recall Compendium (a link is in my signature). There's also a method there which works with only writing tags down after you wake up and writing down the full dream sometime later that day. That way you train yourself to have the dreams around longer in your head and you waste less of your sleep time writing the dreams, without forgetting them though.

Thanks, nice guide. I think my dream recall isn't good enough for tagging dreams. I can't remember a dream too good without writing it down. Only some parts, I just forget it overnight. I probably should skip some details. Tonight I spent nearly an hour writing it down (but I was definately slow) and I didn't write as much as at my peak in dream recalling. It's just when I write down the details it's like other dreams uncover. Like thinking I'm almost done and then I remind something.

Believe me, tagging dreams might work faster than you believe. But taking it in small steps won't hurt either, just know and believe you'll eventually get there.

      Looks like you're right.
Overall I had trouble remebering dreams. Like I was so sleepy I didn't want to. I almost got one dream, then some random numbers popped in my head and I forgot. I wanted to try wild. And when I cleared my mind I reminded sopmething. I was so lazy at the moment that tags weren't a bad idea. . I reminded of other dreams the same way when I writtnen whole parts. I think I will write up tags now. Also the dreams of today are overall longer than last 2 nights.
But really, now I sometimes don't even want to remember them. When I woke up at morning I couldn't bring up nothing neither I tried hard. It was close tonight to not writing a single dream.

I expected that I would already have lucid dream, but I haven't. My dream recall got a little worse I think. I remeber some fragments now. At the end of my old log fragments were rarity. And my dream recall at the beggining weren't that bad, so looks like dream recall can get worse when not practised. Last 2 nights I had written 10 lines per night. At the end of my first dream journal I had 30 - 40 lines. So it's kinda demotivating. Much less dream quality.
How long does it take to master dream recall? I heard that after a year of writing up dreams is unnessecary and once you have excellent dream memory you can't forget dreams.

It takes different amounts of time for everyone Kox. It's will probably take you the same amount of time as it would take you to make a conscious effort in remembering every waking moment of day-time life. In the same way- it takes practice, patience and a base awareness at all times. Everyone has those periods of time where their dream recall and vividness suffer. It has to do with every day environmental issue like stress, diet, sleep schedule and etc.

Don't get discouraged, just remind yourself of the wonderful thing you're trying to achieve and know that you will if you keep at it. The enemies of all lucid dream practitioners are fear, and doubt. Don't doubt that you'll be able to master it with patience, and don't fear that you don't have what it takes. On the topic that it may become unnecissary to write down your dreams later on, that's true- but shouldn't be your goal just yet.
Also, some people like myself who remember multiple dreams each night still decide to document them. Going back over them at later times helps with all over consciousness of your personal dreaming state. So all in all, try to keep the diet and sleep schedule healthy. Try to keep your mind at ease, a lot of the time I find when I'm stressing about my dream life- my dreams suffer from it. Cultivate a good awareness of where you are, what you are doing, and what your actions will effect in the future, at all times of the present. This kind of awareness is one of the strong keys to dream recall and consciousness of the dream world. Once you can find yourself able to know exactly who you are, and what you are really doing in the moment- you'll begin to see your dreams like you never have before. Vivid, even when it's hard to see. Legnthy even when they end too quickly. But memorable, definitly.

      Good luck, sir Kox.

We may guess that in dreams life, matter, and vitality, as the earth knows such things, are not necessarily constant; and that time and space do not exist as our waking selves comprehend them. Yes, you're right. Thanks. I hope I won't give up. I just got to think if I give up I will want to lucid dream again at some time . If I give it up now, I wouldn't be able to trust myself. I'd think that I will give up anyway, so it wouldn't be worth trying again. I just have to make it a habit.

Well at least the tags work for you, right? Just as you noticed you still have to keep up the motivation, but with tags you need "less motivation" for the same effect. Keep at it and you'll get there.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

When you're writing down your dreams in the middle of the night, just write down the main points and ideas. Anything that is important. Then later in the day you can go back and reread the points and fill in some more detail. This will hopefully save you some time so you get more sleep! The amount of lucid dreams you have had already is great. Hopefully you will be able to combat your laziness and get some more! Good luck! If you have questions, just ask.

Unfortunately my dream recall is worsening. I sometimes wake up at night and I can't remember nothing. Maybe I'm so sleepy that I'm uncouncious during that time. Then second time I wake up I remember a little compared to what I was doing. I've been almost at point I would give up, but not so easy. I've just reminded how cool are LDs and it was enough to regain motivaion :d Also over week of writing up and being aware. And no lucid dreams. When I was completely begining I had my first lucid within 4 days.
I think that's my fault. I ddin't like the idea of spending hour a night and maybe my subcounscies interpreteted it pretty bad.
But good for me I'm reminding more and more dreams I probably haven't idea I dreamt of. I have special file for "forgotten dreams" and I write everything I can remember there. And the dreams remind of other dreams with similiar motive.

Tonight I remembered more and didn't have to focus to remind. But that was probably because I woke up from LD. Finally. I wated to ask myself what I'm gonna do tommorow. I didn't do it. ut I asked myself what I was doing before sleep. I don't remember what answer I was given, but that was definately something imagined. So what Are my skills so bad, or you can't actually think vividly what have you done before you go to sleep or what's your next day when you wake up?

Also I tried spinning around and I woke up.
