      Howdy Folks!

Due to a recent round of lucid dreams I did a search and found this site. So now I have signed up, here is my story.
I have always had good dream recall from way back and dreams are among my earliest memories. When I was 3-4 years old I went thru a nightmare phase. I will save the details for another forum but result was often waking up screaming and having my parents come in to calm me down. At some point during this time I discovered by becoming aware it was dream that I could take corrective action. At first by escaping, often to another dream and later by taking more direct action. I would continue to have these awakening dreams as I grew up but whenever I would try to explain them to people I could tell they didn't really understand. It was while in my late 20s that I learned there actully was something called lucid dreaming and I began to study and learn more about it. This was pre-internet and it was not easy to find much info. In the long run I learned much on my own but up til now have not really connected with others doing the same.
So now I am now 51 years and having just found this site, will save the rest of the story for another time.

      Hello Dreamswithcats!

It is great to hear you successfully dealing with your nightmares and exploring lucid dreaming on your own. We'd love to hear some of your experiences if you'd like to share them with us. There is a dream journal system on this site tha allows members to share their dreams as well as read other members' experiences. If you need anything or have any questions whatsoever, don't hesitate to ask. We'd be happy to help out

      See ya!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Hi Dreamsithcats. Welcome to DV.

I'm sure you will find what you are looking for on here, etc.
I think one of my earliest memories was when I was about 5 years old, although I have had some really early memories or dreams that I cannot explain. One example was quite vivid.
I too got interested after experiencing hallucinations during a fever in my teens, and also whilst in my early Twenties, by having a series of highly vivid dreams (non-lucid?) one night, indispursed with false awakenings.
I managed to get a book on lucid dreaming around 1991 whilst studying Art.
I did read up on lucid dreaming and OBE experiences at that time, but I started getting a lot of frightening 'old hag' or seperation experiences.
I guess I wasn't ready as I didn't really know what was going on.
I'm not sure what method or technique is your favourite Dreamswithcats. I mainly have success using DILD (Dream Induced Lucid Dream) with WBTB (Wake Back To Bed.)
Yes you will get used to seeing the various acronyms!

Thanks for the welcome all, I am here for both learning and eventually sharing more of my own experiences but plan to take it slow as I am still finding my way around here. I discovered WILD early on my own (only recently learning the actual term) and eventually learned to use dreamsigns and reallity checks with good success. I recently have been listening to oldtime radio shows before going to sleep and this seems to have had an unexpected but very good effect, not so much due to the content of the shows but the using of imagination to picture scenes just before sleep. This has triggered a whole series of WILD experiences which was what got me to searching for a site like this.

      Welcome to the forum.

Listening to oldschool radio shows seems like an interesting idea for visualizations.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Dream recall USA good thing to have when lucid dreaming. It's a very important attribute. I also went through a nightmare phase as a child which I still remember vividly. Anyways, if you have any questions, just ask

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

The very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
