Hi fellow dreamers, I'm developing a new kind of Lucid Dreaming Device

      Hi fellow dreamers,

I was reading for a while and decided to register. I'm a lucid dreamer, sometimes more sometimes less. I'm traveling a lot and discovered that changing the place really throws me back in my Lucid Dreaming skills.

I'm currently training myself again with a new kind of Lucid Dreaming device. I'm trying it out at the moment and it looks very promising so far. It's not a mask, in a way it's similar, but the learning process is different (and therefore much more effective). I'll gladly tell you more later.
If you're interested in giving your feedback about Lucid Dreaming and especially devices and helpers, feel free to do this on this survey which I set up for my research: bit.ly/lucidsurvey - exciting to be with the experts!

Looking forward to some interesting discussions,
      Philipp

Can you tell us some more about the advice on here?
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

bobblehead: I reckon you are meaning about the device?

Yeah, the key difference to all the products (masks) out there will be that you are actually learning in two periods:
      1. day mode: you are training during the daytime, making reality checks as soon as the device "triggers" you to do them
      2. night mode: you are wearing it at night and your mind knows already to do reality checks when the device sends it's "trigger".
Therefore, obviously, it won't be a mask. I'll prepare a thread with a more precise description in the next days, as I'd be very curious discussing it with you guys.

      venryx: thanks!

Like a smartphone app that plays audio ques at random intervals? Whenever you hear the que you do a reality check then it will percolate into your dreams?

Will you be able to mass produce this? Or maybe it's software? Will I be able to buy it in other words. Will it be expensive?
Sweet dreams and roses on your pillow.

I would like to point out that (if my memory is working properly) there is already two free iOs apps that work that way: Imaginatron and Dream Controller (well, I think this last one it's free + in-app purchases, because it has some extra functionality, but you can use it for free)
To me the idea sounds good, these apps play the same sound (that you choose) at day and at night (you setup different intervals or frequencies for the sounds at day or at night) so that during day you "train yourself" doing RCs and at night (hopefully) the sound triggers lucidity. I just cannot say if they are effective because I could not test them properly: I cannot sleep wearing headphones, and my bed partner is much more sensitive than me, so I cannot use the speakers neither. On the other hand if they were really effective, people here at DV would be shouting out: "Try this app, it's free and works wonderfully!" (Actually there might be some discussion about them in the forums, didn't have time to check)
Philipp, I'm not trying to discourage you, rather I think is good for you to know the more you can about your "competition", probably you should get and try these apps yourself.
I guess you know you need to offer something new, or at least something similar but with significant improvements over what it is already there, if you want to success in your venture. Or maybe you already knew all of this!!

My worry would be, like any lucid dreaming aids, that one would eventually build a dependency on it. Personally, I'd rather develop the skill on my own, rather than requiring a device every time I wanted to lucid dream.

I appreciate this sentiment moSh. I agree with it about 50%. The other 50% I feel that once you build a habit, the mind may respond favorably. True, the habit of lucid dreaming in this scenario is with the aid of a device, and so may require that aid as you mention, but you may just get your mind into the habit of becoming lucid. You may tickle the logical part of your brain while dreaming often enough to set it off more often.

I'm not a natural lucid dreamer. I have about 1 per month, and lately they have been 10 seconds or less. Grrrrrrr! If you track them, you could tell if you begin to have slightly more per month. 1.1 is a 10% gain over just 1 per month. That only gives you 1.2 more per year, and tracking like this would hardly make a scientific study. My lucid count has increased this year over last with only one of those lucids attributed to an outside force.

Anyway, I hear your concern; I would be willing to try any device to increase my lucid count though.

I see what you mean, it may give you a better familiarity with lucid dreams, and in so doing make you better prepared to establish them on your own after a while.
