Yo, I joined.... also body moving?

Yo! So I'm new here but I've known about this place for a while. I seek to succeed at WILD, it's regarded as the hardest right? Well that's exactly why I've decided it's the method I'll master. So I've had about 2 lucid dreams in total, it was before I ever tried to intentionally do it and even before I knew what it was called. Interesting enough they've never been vivid, I'm certain it's not just bad recall... because my dreams have never been very vivid until I got a Dream Journal which didn't exist until after those 2 incidents. So I dunno, I guess I just got a knack for it or something.

Also there is this problem I just got tonight before signing up here...

So basically, I've never experienced SP consciously. I think I was experiencing it for the first time as I tried my hardest to keep my attention on counting, basically I slowly lost control of my body. When I first started counting I was doing it aloud and focusing on the counting, then my body started feeling tingly and stiff until I couldn't even move my lips. So I started counting in my head continuing focusing on the numbers.

Now here's the weird part, I started feeling like my body was moving VERY slowly. I thought maybe it was all in my head, until my back started to arch... at this point I had high doubts, but I completely ignored the doubts... until my head felt like it was completely up and looking forward towards the closet. At this point I felt it was necessary to risk giving up to verify whether it was in my head or not. Low and behold when I opened my eyes... my head was actually doing exactly what it felt like. So my body HAD moved against my will quite drastically >.>

I did every reality check I could to make sure, and here I am since then. FYI I'll admit I was WILDing without doing WBTB, however I still achieved what I believe was SP. I didn't expect to succeed per say, just doing it pre-WBTB as an extra measure and practice. But this is a odd issue, any thoughts or advice?

Edit: Sorry for this post being so long, but it's almost unavoidable when this is both my introduction and me bringing up an issue I'm having. Good night, see y'all tomorrow.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!
First off if your looking to master WILD I highly recommend checking out Sageous's WILD class, which you can find on the Dreamviews academy board. Your experience in which it felt like you were moving slowly is very common in WILD, it basically is a form of HH. That's the same reason why some people experience falling in WILD. Some how I find it hard to believe that you were actually moving your head, well because there's no real explanation for it. Did you not wake up again? Because then it could of just been a false awakening and your reality check failed. Again very common. Anyway I would probably just let it side, join the WILD class if you want and sooner or later you should be a master at WILD .
P.S. You might want to try different variations of WILD also, they might be more achievable for you personally.

Thanks, and thanks for the advice

Well as I said I opened my eyes and my head had moved. A False Awakening is exactly what I assumed, nor did I just try 1 check. I tried breathing through my pinched closed nose, looking at my hands and all my tattoos, looking at text and looking away then back again, same for the time and looking at my reflection. I even tried jumping to see if anything was off. Now maybe all those could've failed, but the biggest reality check of all is my post lol... after doing my reality checks, I decided to join almost instantly. So if it was a false awakening then why is this topic I made in said false awakening here? Shouldn't it have been part of the false awakening?

Also random question: If you have a dog that normally sleeps with you, and the little guy likes to move around, will it prevent a success? Because it was a little distracting, not necessarily big time, I was capable of ignoring him for the most part... however even if I ignored him I was still aware of him moving because it's hard not to notice when he bumps into my legs doing it.

Note: Sorry for any typos, just woke up to do the WBTB method now. I would've tried DEILD but I had a nightmare so I didn't want that dream, plus I wanted to check to see if I got a response. Also I just noticed the night mode button, that's very useful.

Glad you got some advice out of my post,
I don't see why having a dog with you while your sleeping would effect WILDs and lucid dreams. As long as you can get to sleep you should be fine, just try to ignore him as much as possible (like you said). Honestly your WILD experience has no real explanation I can give you, Perhaps you moved your head without knowing ?I'm not sure

Ok so I'm back from doing WBTB and unfortunately I couldn't get back to sleep. Probably too many distractions, everybody else is making so much noise. I could've sworn I was almost asleep too, while maintaining awareness so I got farther than before I think. I did not move this time, I think what happened was I forgot about relaxing and my muscles got tense and started to flex without me even trying lol

But I am not sure if it was SP I was experiencing. I felt like my body was getting more and more numb, and I was getting more and more tired, I also felt like I couldn't move. However after a point it kinda "paused", possibly because a lot of noise was getting so frequent in the other rooms from other people in the house and thus distracting me from falling asleep. So I eventually gave up and tried to move, at first I couldn't but then I tried harder and got myself to move. It however hurt like hell, in fact it still hurts a little.

Was this sleep paralysis, I mean I could move... but it was difficult and hurt so I dunno. The doubts spring up upon moving obviously, but it's possible that I just forced control over my body and thus canceling the SP? Like I said it was difficult and painful, so...

      Hey man welcome to DV
I will tell you one thing that will explain all your experiences so far....SP is one big grey area! The feelings and experience of SP varies from person to person, some people have vibrations, some spinning, some pain etc etc.
Your first attempt when you had moved your head was likely because you were losing focus on your body and were just involuntarily moving, it happens to me every now and then, don't worry that doesn't happen once you learn how to WILD.
Now to clear up a misconception, you actually never consciously reach SP in an average WILD attempt, what you are feeling is the effect of your body trying to fall alseep and therefor while it does provide a solid marker to show how close you are to falling into a dream, you never actually reach full paralysis and in a WILD attempt you shouldn't be aiming to induce SP. It's important to just go along with your body falling asleep and paying more attention to reaching or visualizing the dream scene and paying almost no focus on your body falling asleep.

Nice to meet ya dutchraptor. I did not know a person usually won't have SP happen while awake with a WILD, though FYI I already knew not to be aiming for it, this was all just casual observations. In fact all I was attempting to do was stay aware of the numbers I was counting as I fell asleep. I am almost certain I was VERY VERY close to the brink, it just stopped progressing after a point like it "paused"... probably was all the noise. I ignored most of it, but more and different noises kept cropping up. Though I wonder if thinking and visualizing the dream scene will keep me aware, because usually when I do that it just puts me to sleep in the dreamscape I wanted but unconsciously. So I don't know if I CAN make it my primary focus, I just assumed that my subconscious would create a dream scene for me.

      @DutchRaptor Wow man your goodddd!
Just one thing to add though it is possible to wake up just randomly in the night or after a lucid dream and find yourself in full SP. In which you can achieve a lucid dream from, it happened to me once. Also some people don't even get SP well I personally didn't know this until I listened to the Dreamviews podcast and both the hosts don't experience SP at all when WILDing. So don't let the whole reaching SP distract you (like DutchRaptor said).
      Happy LDing,

Ypu don't need to make it your primary focus, you just have to now what it is you want to achieve, IE where you want to end up. Yo u can just keeping counting numbers if that works for you, just know in the back of your mind that it is a dream and SP you are trying to enter
