      Couldn't lurk any longer :)

      Hello Dreamviews,

After having lurked moar than I could take, I have finally decided to join Dreamviews (especially after having my first fully-fledged lucid dream a few nights ago). I stumbled upon this site about half a year ago, after only just starting to research lucid dreams. I first heard about lucid dreaming after watching Inception, whilst I was looking into the concept of shared dreaming.

After seeing so many people talk about it on here, I decided to buy Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge. However, I struggled to devote enough time to learning the ability of lucid dreaming with the jumbled-up lifestyle I had at the time. I became frustrated at my inability to achieve lucidity and decided to give it a rest. However, I have since managed to get life under more control and decided to take up lucid dreaming again. To my surprise, I had a lucid dream within only a week of taking it up again. The sheer sense of achievement has only fueled my desire to become lucid more often.

I have always been fascinated by somnological phenomena, especially since my regular episodes of sleep paralysis (with hallucinations) during my final year of sixth form and throughout university. My main reasons for lucid dreaming are that I have always sought to become more spiritually enlightened and that I wish to use it to boost my creativity. That being said, I can definitely see the intrinsic worth of lucid dreaming, and the sheer amusement it causes (simply levitating around in my first lucid dream was a blast in itself!). I cannot wait to have my next lucid dream and to become a part of this forum.

On a side-note, does simply thinking about lucid dreaming increase your chances of having one?

      Thanks,

      MagicBeanSeller

      Welcome to the forum!

Congratulations on that first lucid dream! I really enjoy reading these stories. The joy, the thrill of opening a new world always takes me back to my initial lucid dreams. I'm glad you liked it!

We have the DreamViews Academy which holds courses for all level of dreamers and methods. Why not visit the DVA and try a course? I suggest starting with the Intro course but any of them should help increase the frequency with which you experience lucid dreams.

Enjoy the forum! If you have any questions the staff is here to help. You can post a new topic or send a private message to any staffmember. We are the ones with the stars under our names. Dream Guides, the people with green stars under their names, are specifically tasked with answering questions about lucid dreams.

      Enjoy!

Thanks . I will definitely give it a try. I always find that interacting with something is a much more stimulating way to learn than simply reading. [Edit] I have also been practicing continuous daily awareness to heighten my mind's ability to see when it is dreaming.
