      Red face New dreamer here!

Hello all. I only recently hear of these luqid dreams.

They sound amazing, dreaming to me is amazing in itself, remembering a dream is even better. A luqid dream?

I really want to experience this, and I know this takes a long time, but I tried last night and I couldn't recall my dream. Even though I was on this sight for an hour and I told myself to remember my dreams like 50 times. I woke up and I had one vague memory of writing something down on my calender but that was it. Anyways, I will try everything I can because this sounds like something AWESOME. Including writing about my day which I think will help.

I'll make a dream journal when I start dreaming regularly, as of now I write tidbits on my calender when I wake up, then come back home from school and write the full thing.

      Anyways, cya'll later. Sweet dreams.

Welcome! When you first wake up, try not to move, and see whether you remember anything at all: even if it is a tiny fragment like "I wrote in my calendar in this deam." Or "I woke up feeling sad but do not remember why." Or "I don't remember the dream but I remember that I did dream, and it seems just out of reach." If you write in your dream journal every day, you are bound to get better at it over time. Another thing: keep a dream journal and a flashlight or an electronic device capable of note taking with lot screen right next to your bed. Then when you wake up in the middle of the night, try to recall a dream, and if you do, write it down right then and there, or at least write some key words then as a reminder to hopefully full in more details in the morning. Good luck!

Thank you for replying, it means a lot.
I'll try all of these tonight and see how it goes, only one of them is a bit iffy, and that is staying still, my dog always comes up to wake me up in the morning, he loves it.

Right now I'm just trying to stimulate my mind with thoughts of luqid dreams, so I can have a normal dream at least tonight.

One more thing, isn't it just crazy? Being able to control your own world? I'm trying to get at something here, but its a feeling I can't express. For all you dreamers out there you probably don't feel it but, there's this feeling that goes along with thinking about dreams. Its just, weird. Its kinda like those goosebumps you get when you think about how crazy Space is. (unless that's just me, I'm fascinated with space)

Anyways, I'll let you know how your strategies work out.

One thing to keep in mind is that we all wake up every 1.5 or 2 hours or so every night, but usually we just roll over and fall right back asleep and forget we even woke up. If your dog wakes you up in the morning perhaps that time is not your best time for remembering a dream since you get distracted by the dog, who by the way is important and should not be deprived so that's not a good option. However, if you set your intension firmly to when you wake up in the middle of the night try to remember your dream, and try to write in your journal even a bit at every wake up in the night, that could work better for you if morning time is important for dog and you. Even though the last dream in the morning is likely to be the longest, but for now you could start by focusing on the dreams before that in the middle of the night, when your dog is not distracting you.

Well, there is one question, I've heard there are certain things you can drink and eat to improve dream recall. Since you seem like a reliable kind of guy, are there any foods/drinks that have helped you?

      Thanks in advance

I'll say that this a pretty debatable subject filled with a lot of "fact vs placebo." In my experience though, Apple Juice seems to really help with my clarity/vividness/etc. The B6 in apple juice has been thought to help with these aspects. I don't get too into the supplement area because everyone's mind and body are different, so some things may work better for others. Of course, there is that placebo effect that is hard to document as well. I'd start with B6 rich food and drink or vitamins if you are looking for a supplement boost. Melatonin is another popular supplement. I haven't really tried too much more than that.

Ok, so thank you all for your tips, but unfortunately I only got one vague memory of waking up. I also woke up during my REM cycle, which might mean something, so there, I said it.

My new plan is to take this slow, first improve dream recall and practice WILDing. After that I'll focus on becoming lucid.
While were talking about WILDing, do ya'll have any tips on it? I might try it later today, as I heard it is best as a nap.

      Sweet dreams.

Yes! My first lucid dream! Here's what I wrote on my dream calender:

      MEMORABLE
      Length: ~3 sec
      Type: Lucid
I woke up during (what I think is) my REM, at 2:00. After 5 minutes fell back asleep. In the dream I was playing basketball, did nose RC then woke up.

Yes, it was only 3 seconds, but as soon as I realized I had just had a lucid dream, it was a huge boost to my self-confidence.
Also, the nose reality check woke me up, did I do something wrong, or do some reality checks wake you up? It might just be that it was a short dream.

      Sweet dreams.

Oh, one more thing, I had like, almost 3 other 5 second dreams. Is my dream recall improving? Thanks in advance.

The nose pinch RC is not going to wake you up, so something else was the cause. Most likely you got too emotional upon becoming lucid for the first time. This caused that adrenaline to kick in and it woke you from your slumber. Another very possible scenario is you actually didn't wake up at all. You could've had a False Awakening. Always be sure to perform a RC every time you wake from sleep so you can catch these (not saying that this happened, but they are very common). A third, and more unlikely scenario, you were at the very end of your REM cycle and your body woke up naturally. Even at the normal end of an REM cycle, you can prolong the cycle by simply staying in the dream. The REM cycle isn't a set-in-stone deal. I'd bank on the excitement waking you up, but no worries, that is perfectly normal. The more lucids you have, the easier it will be to stay calm and relaxed upon becoming lucid.

Yes, it sounds to me like your recall is progressing nicely. Just keep up the solid work and you will only get better and better.

Congrats on your first of many more lucids to come!

Ok, so my dream recall has been getting awesomerer!

I've decided to make a dream journal now. After looking on my calender and realizing there's not enough room for my crazy long dreams...

Anyways, if you'd like to see how my dreams are going, here's the link to it:
I'll also put it in my signature once I've been registered for a week.

      Sweet dreams.

PS: It might take me a while to get all my dreams in, so if you're reading this just as I'm posting it, I'll probably only have a couple.

PSS: GAH, it won't let me post a link. I have to be registered for a week! If you'd still like to, then maybe just search it until I can post a link.
