      Controversial Cherries. Oh, and hello!

      Heya DreamViews!
My name is Jacob, and I'm 16, currently living in SW England. I've been lurking around the forums for a bit, decided I should come and say hi!

I used to keep a dream journal when I was younger (around age 12) and a couple of weeks back I decided was going to start my journal again, and perhaps attempt some lucid dreaming. However, my dream recall was absolutely shocking; I couldn't remember anything at all.

Then, last night, I had two incredibly vivid dreams, and could recall both of them perfectly!
I wrote them down, happy with myself, and continued with my day.
Just now, I was on StumbleUpon, and came across this:
[sorry, posting links to other fourms is not allowed]
Where I noted that high-melatonin foods are supposed to help, and that cherries were relatively high on the list. Yesterday I ate an entire bag of cherries, and now I'm rather curious as to whether this was just coincidence or they did actually help.
Noticed in the related threads http://www.dreamviews.com/lucid-aids...efore-bed.html it's not just me!

I'll wait and see what happens tonight!

      So long,
      -Jacob

Hiya Jacob! Glad to see that you've started journaling your dreams again, and I really hope that you'll be able to lucid.

I didn't know that about cherries. I'll have to ask my parents to get me some. Too bad my dad just went to the store.

I figure if the cherries work, you will have cherries and vivid dreams. But even if they do not work, you still get cherries, yum! Welcome to DV!

Do let me know, I'm very curious about this now. I haven't had any cherry anything tonight, so I'll wait and see if my recall plummets again!

Had me a good half litre of cherry juice last night.
I am not sure what happened, by my dream recall this morning is superb.
I can remember at least four or five dreams, each based on its own idea.
None of them were lucid, but I did not try, or want to be lucid in them, so.

Haven't had any dream recall since my cherries. Bummer.
Gonna ask my Mum to pick up some cherry juice before she gets home today. Will report back tomorrow!

Sweet cherry juice will not work.
You need the tart, or bitter kind.
Cooking cherries are best, if you do not like the juice.

" Mum forgot to get it " - This is truly unforgivable.

      However.

      Do you have legs ?
Is there a store nearby ?
Do you get a weekly allowance, or spending money ?
While you are at the store, buy your mum some flowers from us all. ( and you, of course )

I find myself feeling jealousy over your age, and situation.

Cherries are not really working for me...but then maybe I need nitroglycerin Seryth, so don't let that put you off...trouble is, cherries are short-seasoned and relatively expensive in the UK...now rhubarb....

Actually, although I do have legs, and I have got enough money to buy a carton of juice, there are no shops that would sell cherries and/or cherry juice nearby - closest place is a 20 minute cycle ride away, and to be entirely honest I wasn't really in the mood for that last night! Ah, the joy of living out here in the sticks!

Check out this table: Mustard is pretty high, along with walnuts. 3NKbR.jpg

Guys, you should really google B6 in food. Tons of food has more b6 than cherries. You may even have those at home.

Yes, but do those other foods also have the same yum factor? See, the B6 could be used as an excuse to get more cherries - one can then say one "needs" more cherries. Whereas one may not feel the same way about fish, for example.

Is there any melatonin in cider?

One suggestions beyond supplementation in regards to improving dream recall is to write down even the faintest detail of a dream. Say for instance that you can't remember anything about the dream other than that you felt cold, write that down "I felt cold" or if you remember a certain color, write that down "something to do with the color orange". No matter how trivial the memory is, write it down. The problem is often that our brains regard this information as worthless, so it doesn't store it. Once you begin to record this stuff, then the importance is reinforced and your brain is more likely to save it for you.

As for supplementation, I hear that vitamin C seems to work well. I've got some cheap chewable C that makes my dreams incredibly vivid and even more likely to be lucid. The only reason why I don't take them on a regular basis is that what I've got contains milk sugars and I'm lactose intolerant. I can take more pills for that, but I find it rather annoying.
I'm not always lucid, but whether I'm awake or asleep I'm always dreaming.
