      Hi there!

Hello, I'm Stephanie, and I am currently 14 going on 15 in a few weeks. I thought this site would help me understand lucid dreaming better, something I've been able to do since I was 10. The funny thing is, I was able to do it simply because I wanted to. I remember when I was 10, I stumbled upon this article that said how to lucid dream and after reading it, I tried it out and it worked after a few tries. In all of my lucid dreams, I remember that my first instinct was to try to fly upon discovering it was a dream.
Anyways, I hope I get to read interesting experiences and share some of my own! It's nice to chat with people who have the same ability.

I think most people lucid dream when young, I have some historic dreams from when I was a kid, but only the last year have I lucid dreamed intentionally.

You should focus on skills like
Dream Recall (unless you remember dreams every night already)
Stabilization (unless you trigger very early and are automatically stable)
Void Survival (why not continue the dream when your brain wants to end it )
DEILD Dream Exit Initiated Lucid Dream (why quite dreaming just because you woke up)

maybe it would be good for others to know how long your dreams last and what you are able to do.

sounds like its time for new goals like
      Mind Control DCs
      Teleport
      Transformation
      etc

Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.

      Welcome, st3ph!
It's great that lucid dreaming came to you so naturally!
If you're looking for some other fun things to do in your dreams, check out our lucid Tasks of the Month!

I personally wouldn't worry about stabilisation or "the void" unless those are specific problems for you. I never struggled with either of those until I started reading about them, and then it made me focus too much on what could go wrong and forget how simple lucid dreaming was for me before that.
Dream recall and DEILD are both great skills to have up your sleeve though!

I look forward to seeing you around the forum!

Awesome, glad to have you on Dreamviews, st3ph! I second Dreamer's advice on not worrying about any of the negative experiences, like the void and what not. Most of the time, if we don't worry about those things, they don't occur. Even when they do occur, though, they aren't that big of a deal, and if you're calm and confident, the dream will reform. Sounds like you've already been having a lot of adventures! Hope to hear about some of them, maybe you will start a dream journal? Let us know if you have any questions!

sure easy for natural lucid dreamers to say, but what about newbies

without stabilization they will tend to wake up and remember only short lucid dreams

without being able to survive the void they will lose lucidity and remain asleep perhaps in a different dream segment or a false awakening and wake up not remembering their lucid dream at all

my biggest mistake in lucid dreaming is that I don't always stabilize, my greatest achievement is surviving voids and tripling the length of my lucid dreams on the other side

So if a newbie finds themselves becoming lucid nearly every night and at the beginning of REM sure forget about them, otherwise it is best to be prepared, and have the skills
Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.

I'm not a natural lucid dreamer either, I didn't start learning until I was 17. (I'm still learning 8 years later!)
It sounded to me like the OP already felt confident about her ability to lucid dream, and I liked her easygoing approach.
Everyone's experience with lucid dreaming is going to be different, so I don't think it's true to say that "without stabilization, [newbies] will tend to wake up and remember only short lucid dreams". That sounds like a negative schema, and I worry about creating unnecessary expectations of failure for new members. I think st3ph is lucky that LDing came to her so naturally, and she seems to be having great success so far!
Anyway, I'll try not to hijack this intro thread any more, and much respect to you, cooleymd, I appreciate your friendly and interesting posts on the forum.
