Talking I am progressing quickly and am very determined

I have only in the past 8 days found out what lucid dreaming is. I watched some videos on Lucidipedia's youtube channel and bought a spectacular book: Are You Dreaming by Daniel Love. I read the whole thing in just 3 days, and will probably read it again soon. I just receieved in the mail today, a comfortable moulded sleep mask that lets no light in, as I have also been having trouble returning to sleep after the sun comes up. I am taking 50mg of B6 before bed, and am taking high doses of NAC every few days(I know NAC may not do anything for dreams but I am giving it a shot).

The last 4 nights have been waking up without trying, just before my second or third REM cycle begins 3-5am. Upon returning to bed after using the restroom and drinking some water, I(without trying) have regularly been experiencing WILD-type sensations(flashes of light, rotating colors, vibrations all over my arms and face, sinking feeling in my stomach like I am falling/dizziness).

The first couple times I experienced this I stopped myself at a certain point because I wasn't completely ready for it(after which I felt a euphoric afterglow with more vibrant visuals). This morning I felt more ready for it and decided to commit to it. Today I did not see flashes or feel electric vibrations; I only felt(for the first time) first dizziness upon seeing moving colors, then a STRONG feeling of falling in my stomach. Today and every other time prior, I have not been able to successfully enter into a WILD; I end up staying awake for a while.

Now oddly enough, this morning was also my first successful DILD! It only lasted 0 seconds because I woke up upon succeeding in a digital watch-reality check. But, hey it's a clear victory! I am so excited for my journey ahead. I have clear goals in mind for what I want to accomplish, and I can't wait to share my successes with you all.

      Congratulations!

The first few times you LD have a high chance of being at the end of REM cycles, so don't let it get to ya, very normal to wake up when realizing it is a dream.

If you are the reading type, I recommend exploring the world of lucid dreams by laberge, covers some similar ground as are you dreaming, but might help you put it in another perspective and keep it fresh on your mind.

I made a podcast for beginners if you want to listen!

Thanks for taking the time to respond and also for making/uploading the audio file.

Before I even knew about lucid dreaming I was able to practice Solfege/Relative Pitch Ear Training in a regular dream(because whenever I hear music that is what i do: I analyze it) at a much higher level than if I was awake.

When I found out about lucid dreaming I nearly lost my mind from excitement, thinking about all I could do with this power. I plan to do as much work as I have to to get to the point where I can on a regular basis, practice solfege, music theory, and practice virtual instruments.

I also want to pull from my memory entire Bible texts(I know text is messed up in dreams, so audio or some modified version of the concepts; maybe conversing with John Calvin about things) and do more powerfully further my studies. I also want to practice speaking Japanese, and eventually learn the Biblical languages as well. Also on the list is practice throwing disc-golf discs.

I am also an aspiring fictional writer, so there's that too.

My interest is purely utilitarian. I'm not interesting in seeing beautiful things(although wow!, sound is so much better in a dream--immediate and straight to the brain); I'm not interested in flying or dream-sex. I don't want to have a cathardic experience communicating with virtual dead relatives constructed from my memories.

I have tasted of the power of my brain in dreamstate, and I want to unleash this power in my life. As it stands I want to get to the point where wake I myself up after every session; write my progress down, and then return via WILD for another session.

give yourself some credit it probably took at least 2 seconds to do the digital watch check

just remember to stay calm and try to do some kind of stabilization, rub hands, take in surroundings or what ever

Every day I am having the hallucinations associated with WILD. I'm just trying to relax and fine-tune the experience so I can make it all the way through. If I visualize too much and the experience stops; music helps me, but sometimes I get too focused on it and it keeps me awake; Feelings of falling and strong vibrations cause me to feel uncomfortable which keeps me awake(not quite used to it yet).

In response to the second, the most important thing to LD is falling asleep, so it is important not to pay attention to the experience around you, falling asleep is forgetting your surroundings, so if you are paying attention. To your surroundings or things happening, you won't fall asleep. Fall asleep l, lean towards sleep and gradually push yourself towards awareness instead of the other way around, you can't have a lucid dream without sleep. This is the best WILD guide I have found, I recommend trying wild and dild at the same time to maximize effectiveness.

      In response to the first.
Music in a dream is just like everything else, it can be vague and hard to bring up sometimes, but other times will be more amazing than anything that you have experienced in waking.

Reading texts in dreams is interesting, especially the bible. Every time I have read it in a dream it has shown either a blank bible with only the verses I have memorized or partially memorized in it, or full and seemingly correct, but when I check again in waking, I forget everything except the texts that I had memorized. Haha, don't know if I just need to try more, but as it stands, I am working on dilating time in a dream right now, so if I can get that, then I will work towards something that can be useful. I spend about 2-4 hours a month in lucid dreams, and if I just spend 10 minutes a day on memorizing verses, then I will spend more time than that in memorizing (300 minutes, 5 hours), so unless something changes, it isn't worth the effort to LD to do something time consuming in a lucid dream.

I do plan on making a persistent realm to help me with Japanese for the next 6 months before I move there, be able to converse and really surround myself with Japanese for 4 hours a month plus daytime study will be very helpful when I move there.

I classify LDing as a "hobby that could be useful in the future", but for now it must be mainly for fun with a few fun experiments thrown in here and there.

Reading in a dream is a great repeatable goal, you can basically plagiarize everything down there. lol, or if you just like reading, read books that no one has ever read. text can be messy in dreams, but it doesn't have to be. It can be hit or miss at first, but there is plenty of dream control to make text less wobbly. I really like picking up books that I have read and seeing all the differences as well.

I also don't LD for Sexy times or for "talking to dead relatives", lol, but as I said, it is for having fun and maybe someday being useful. If you are looking to enhance creativity, then that starts right away though, haha.

Hope this answers everything. I have a couple more threads that you might like. This one is a smorgasbord of info.
