Newbie Story

Hi Everyone!

I’m a newbie, I’ve never posted anything on this type of forum before, so please be gentle!
I was a member of a fantastic Facebook group about Lucid Dreaming, but I’ve recently left Facebook and need to find a new home to discuss LDing.

I was one of the lucky ones that had a spontaneous first lucid dream. I was on a natural high for days afterwards! But from that day onwards I’ve been absolutely fascinated with dreams and sleep. I read everything I could get my hands on, and was lucky enough to have my second lucid dream (this time on purpose) 5 days later.

My first LD was bright and vivid, and my second was dark... and nearly ever lucid dream I have is different in some way. I’ve been LDing for over 2 years, but feel like I don’t have the control I would like. I only get lucid once every couple of months or so, and hope to learn better skills in this forum.

Do you use a Dream Journal? Writing down your dreams helps massively with recall and it also tells your brain "dreams are important" so helps with lucidity.
You have your own DJ section here on DV, just click "Dream Journals" at the top and you can click "Create DJ Entry" to get started.

Yes I do. I have a journal in my phone, along with a hand-written one where I write about techniques I want to try, theories I have and things I want to do in my LD’s. I did start off hand-writing only, but it was taking way too long in the morning and is too difficult to do when I wake at 3am. I know it probably sounds like I’m just making excuses, I probably am! But life has an annoying habit of getting in the way most days. At the moment, I’m trying a combination of meditation and MILD/dream induction, and today I’m adding rosemary oil to boost my memory. My house smells like I’m cooking a roast! ( I’m making the oil myself). I am also trying to lay as still as I can when I wake up so I don’t lose my dreams, but when an alarm is going off it’s hard to ignore!

I have tried to use the chat, without much luck! I can’t use my laptop, and the chat won’t work on my iphone. I log in and nothing happens, I really want to use the chat! Any advice?

There's plenty of decent IRC clients available for iPhone (Mutter and Colloquy were the top ones on Google). Once you download one, use the following settings (from the IRC client tutorials here):

Server: irc.dreamviews.com
Port: 6667 (default)
Username/Nickname: Your DV Username
Server Password (not NickServ): Your DV Password

I downloaded Mutter, but it’s having trouble connecting.
I can’t download the other one.
Is there anyone on DV that’s technically minded that might know why I’m having trouble?

Yes! I hunted down a different irc client, and it connected. Unfortunately I wasn’t expecting it to actually work, I was at a friends house! I thought I’d just say hello and go, and come back when I wasn’t so busy. I’m was only there for a minute, I’m surprised you even saw me!
