Thumbs up long time lucid dreamer, new to forum

whats up, my name is Alex. I've been interested in lucid dreaming for about the past 12 years. I've had a lot of success with it at various points (having 5-7 lucid dreams a week in some spurts) and a lot of dry periods from just not focusing on practice.

one big reason that i am joining this forum is because some of my most successful periods of lucid dreaming have been triggered by being very active on facebook lucid dream and astral projection groups and this forum seems a lot better organized than a facebook group can.

i'm really interested in tibetan dream yoga and the use of lucidity to supplement my daily meditation practice.

my other interests include buddhism (specifically vajrayana buddhism and dzogchen), yoga, longevity, art, psychedelics, herbal medicine, traditional chinese medicine, and esoteric/occult studies in general.

      Glad to be here.

      OM MANI PADME HUM

      You've found the right place!

      Welcome to DV!

I have an interest in Buddhism too. The main thing I take from Buddhism (Mahayana Buddhism) is the Bodhisattva vows. I use them as a reminder that I'm on a mission.
But my spiritual path has been mostly Advaita Vedanta.

I want to get into sleep/dream yoga too. Check out the DreamViews Academy section of the forum, there is a Dream Yoga subforum there with lessons taught by one of our moderators, sivason.

Also if you're into recording your dreams, DV is a good place to do it. You get your own Dream Journal section (check "Dream Journals" at the navigation bar up top). I'm sure you're already aware of the benefits of DJing, but it feels kinda good to do it here, even if nobody responds to it or whatever. But sometimes you do get a comment on your dreams, which is cool.

      Welcome to DV Alex!
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.

Welcome Alex! I agree, forums are better organized and the information more easily found than on new social media platforms like FB and Reddit. It feels like a special place just for the one topic, whereas on the other sites it's just a small component of a greater picture of hobbies, groups etc.

Theres another active member on the forum with the same avatar picture as yours, but dang I forgot what that symbol meant

Wishing you lots of lucid dreams! ~

it's the symbol for the tibetan syllable A. you can think of it kind of like the tibetan version of an OM symbol. it's visualization is used in tibetan meditation practices. it is used in dream yoga too. one example: it is said that if you visualize a red tibetan A at your throat as you fall asleep it will help you to remember your dreams.
