Hello, I had a lucid dream about 4 years ago which was very spontaneous, wonderful and not very spectacular in content. That dream awakening came at an interesting time as I was going through a self made personal hell. I was motivated to learn and had one semi LD after that. My attention quickly went away from LD and went towards what is the nature of reality and consciousness, which ultimately lead me to Vedanta and in turn changed my life for the better. With that question satisfied, I have come back to LD with renewed interest.

Due to medications I'm on which I'm not sure you're allowed to mention here, for chronic pain and sleep due to severe fibromyalgia, my dream recall isn't the best. I have started a dream journal in hopes to build up that recall muscle.

Hey BehindTheDream, welcome to Dreamviews! There is a lot of great information within the forums to find. Hopefully your Vedanta training will aid in some regard with LDing. I could be mistaken, but as far as I know you can mention the medications. It sounds like you're on the right track. Dream journaling is one of the best ways to strengthen dream recall. If you don't already, it can help to focus your intent on remembering dreams as you fall asleep. Best of luck to you on your LD journey!

Thanks for the welcome zelcrow. I've been reading the tutorials and classes the last couple of days before joining and I find that it trims all the fat from what I was reading on other sites. Vedanta helps, especially if things don't go your way, the results of your actions aren't up to you! I'm working on my intent as well, I slipped the last few days because I caught a head cold, but i'll be back at it once it clears up.

For sure. I've found - for myself at least - that it's most helpful when I stick to a book on LDing or to this forum. I'm sure you'll get back into the groove soon!

As a fellow sufferer, I wanted to welcome you here. I don't know how many other people with fibro ever manage to get into LDing but for me it's a really important part of my life, even if I can't exercise it to the same point as other people. I no longer take any medication for my condition because of several different reasons, mostly related to their availability, though I do take some supplements for my sleep. I don't think there's anything against mentioning specific meds or anything either but I generally don't specify unless people ask.

Don't let your fibro (or the meds) dissuade you from the idea that you can have good dream recall. Sure, I'm having some trouble concentrating even just writing this now, but I have been going through a really strong period of fatigue. But because I'm keeping my intent to recall and write dreams down when I wake up, I am being able to keep my recall quite decent.

Having the dream journal definitely helps though. Like with anything that is learnable, writing things down, talking about them and reading them again is always a helpful way of improving your interest and therefore improving recall too. Sometimes if I don't write dreams down I still tell them to my partner to consolidate my memory of a particularly interesting or meaningful dream. You can easily see on my DJ here on DV how much detail I can still recall from dreams sometimes; I'm confident it would be even better if my sleep was better, since I have been at that point before in life anyway.

Personally I like using the dream journal system here on dreamviews because it sets a routine for me to write dreams down.

That routine means that I have to physically get up from bed, come to my computer and wait for everything to be loaded etc. to then finally start writing my dreams down. This forces me to have that large gap of time between getting up and writing, where I must simply remember and go through what I do remember while waiting to be able to write. Sometimes a dream or two go missing, but that's not too bad a thing considering I often take quite a while to type everything out in detail.

Thanks for the welcome DarkestDarkness and sorry you gotta deal with fibro yourself. I fortunately get a decent amount of sleep due to the medicine I take, if I don't take something, I will sleep 2 hours straight then on and off the rest of the night. Before I knew I had fibro, I slept like that for 10 years. It was usually blamed on my depression issues.

Since I have been using a dream journal and using affirmations to remember my dreams I've been having decent recall. The last few nights before last night, my recall wasn't happening, then last night I remembered about 3 dreams in decent detail. I've only been at this a month and a few days and i'm happy with my recall results so far.

Since I started again I've had one wbtb LD, totally on accident but still very cool and I had one dream were I LD'd 3 times in it. That was frustrating but still cool.

I'm glad that you have been able to derive some benefit from your history with vedanta I have also gone through some tough times recently which have led me to study(and practice) buddhist philosophies. As I understand, buddhism and hinduism share many qualities and similar practices!

I'm sorry to hear that you both have fibromyalgia, I'm sure it can be difficult to deal with. I have heard of something that has provided a lot of people with relief from that disorder! One question you may have is who is Wim Hof and why should I listen to him? Well he has done things that everyone thought was impossible and he owes it all to his training with the WHM. Heres a short list of some examples
-Running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle, barefoot only wearing shorts
-Swimming underneath ice for 66 meters
-Hanging on one finger at an altitude of 2,000 meters
-Climbing the highest mountains in the world while wearing shorts(with other people he has trained to do the same!)
-Running a full marathon in the Namib Desert without drinking
-Standing in a container while covered in ice cubes for extended periods of time(broke world records)
-Injected with an endotoxin and he was able to control his immune response to show almost no signs of symptoms while the control group had flu-like symptoms(This has also been repeated with people he has trained with 100% success rate)
He has defied limits that we thought were hard limits and has caused universities to have to rewrite the textbooks on physiology and biology!

All the information you need to start trying it out is available for free online, and on the WHM website there is a free mini-class or a paid 10-week course. If you're interested but dont want to do the miniclass or pay for the course and you are having trouble finding information on how to do the breathing or cold showers online, feel free to ask me anything! I can provide links to good information, answers any concerns or tell you about my experiences with the method even though I dont suffer from fibro.

Thanks for the welcome Mikey5555. Acceptance of what is helped me out in the stress department, meditation as well. I can't do cold on my skin, it becomes very painful, the body suffers enough! I like learning new things so I'll still check it out.
