Fondest of Greetings!

Hey there, friends and strangers! Great to know you. Schmendrick here, a longtime-dabbler in dream journaling and (very) rare lucid dreams, trying to get back into it a little more seriously.

Here's the quick story of my fall from grace: Ten-ish years ago, when I was still in high school, I stumbled on a couple lucid dreaming articles, and was instantly entranced. I started my journal, ordered a copy of good ol' Stephen LaBerge's Exploring the World of Lucid Dreams, and I was off to the races. I wrote down my dreams every morning, I had a handful of passable lucid dreams, and I even had an account on this very site, though I lost my login info long ago.

Then college happened, then grad school, and slowly my dream-related activities drifted from the forefront of my mind. I stopped logging onto Dreamviews; my sporadic lucid dreams disappeared completely; and my journal entries became smaller and smaller. But for some reason, I never stopped journaling. Even when all I can recall is an image, or an object, or an idea, I always write down a sentence or two every morning. I guess I've been secretly hoping that one day, I'd give lucid dreaming a try again.

Anyway -- I'm greatly looking forward getting to know you folks, as I try to revive this decade-old interest of mine. It's gonna be a blast, exploring the forums and putting together a new lucid-dreaming-strategy.

Putting together a lucid dreaming strategy can be a great motivator! I recommend coming up with short term goals that build strong dreaming fundamentals (such as daily journalling and awareness practices) and also have some inspirational long term goals. Good luck and enjoy the journey !

Thanks kindly, Lang -- great to be back! I appreciate you mentioning that... though I must admit, a clean slate might actually be nice for me, if that's not breaking any rules! (I would be a tiny bit off-put to rediscover 16-year-old me's posts on my old account. Yikes.) Great to meet you!

*GASP.* My alias has been deconstructed! BE WARY OF WOUSING A WIZARD'S WATH! I mean... um... bah, you get it. So honored to meet a person of culture! Looking forward to finding time to really dig back into the forums.

I so appreciate it, NyxCC! And thank you, excellent idea -- once I reacquaint myself with some of the terminology and techniques, maybe I can put a schedule together for myself, and see where goal-setting takes me. Excitement builds!

Thanks a bunch! Um, I think it had something to do with pelicans -- but aside from that I'm stumped. I can't tell if my new, Peter S. Beagle reference of a username is an upgrade or not, but for now I'll run with it!

Ah... just embrace the cringe, that's what I did!

Always fun to re-read ancient arguments I had about insignificant subjects with people I would never meet anyway. I'm glad I still have my old account, although I do wish I could change my name.

Actually, it is against the rules to have another account on here. Here: https://www.dreamviews.com/rules-reg...rum-rules.html

I'm sure we can work it out, though. You can have both a clean slate and benefits of being an older member!!

Thanks so much, friend; in that case, I'm gonna go do some detective work, and see if I can't track down my old account from my long-in-disuse high school email address -- then, I'll give one of these two accounts a brutal axing. (Obliged for the great idea, Lang, of going back to the old account and having some extra benefits -- but truly, I would be loathe to reap benefits I haven't really earned over the past ten years.) I'll see what I can dredge up!
