Hey everybody, I'm happy to be here.

I first heard of lucid dreaming a few months ago from my Psychology professor, and realized that I've had these dreams a handful of times before (my most memorable one occuring at age 10, in which the smaller version of myself whooped nightmare fanny after recognizing the dream sign of breathing underwater). I had forgotten about the topic until a few days ago, when I had another very successful lucid dream (hooray for dream flying&#33. I've been keeping a dream journal for four days now, and remembering one or two dreams per night, however my dream recall has not reached that of my last lucid dream (I remembered three dreams with many, many details that night). I've been trying to put myself under the suggestion that I'll wake up after each dream, but I've only awakened once each night, with waning clarity. Any tips?

I joined this forum only after reading the entire main section, to gain a better grip on the subject. Then I looked around the forums to monitor the overall activity level and friendliness, along with translating some of the common abbreviations (WILD, MILD, FA). I hope to visit once a day, but don't expect me to post much. I'm a forum lurker by nature, and I read more than I post. Still, I shall come here whenever I have the need to resolve any problems or questions I have.

Also, I'm a closet-pokemon fan. I thought 'Abra' was fitting, considering the subject at hand is sleeping with awareness. Of course, I like The Legend of Zelda more, but I couldn't think up a username as witty using that franchise. Some of my other hobbies include graphing calculator programming, raising livebearing fish, and pole vaulting.

      Question

      Hey,

Welcome to the DV site Good Luck with having lots of LD's. Yeah! There is lots to read on the DV site and the tutorials are especially helpful - I am a bit of a lurker myself but I am starting to post more to welcome folks as my recall is a little low at the moment in my dream journal which is where 99.9 % of my posts go!

My favourite Pokemon is Snorlax He's so big, cute and sleepy too! Cuddly Fella! You've gotta figure that Snorlax has got to be an LD expert with all the sleeping he does right - I bet he has some craze arsed dreams!

You've got an interesting range of hobbies! Ummmm.....

      Have Fun,

      Namaste

Welcome to Dream Views, Abra! I'm also new at this forum, I'm a Pokemon fan too (my favorite Pokemon is Slowbro), and in high school I dabbled in graphing calculator programming as well. In fact, one time I programmed a menu-based Pokemon game into a TI83 Texas Instruments graphing calculator, complete with a Lab, a Pokemon Center, a Pokemart, graphics of Charmander and Bulbasaur, attack animations, the ability to battle wild Pokemon and capture them in Pokeballs, and even a little world map that had a pi symbol to represent the Pokemon Trainer. After implementing the map feature, the program would run out of memory after a few minutes of play due to the calculator's limited 32 KB of RAM. The game was quite fun to program! I'm now a Software Developer.

Maybe there's an odd correlation between being interested in lucid dreaming, Pokemon, and programming graphing calculators. Do you happen to be from Florida? I'm from Florida, and when I was reading posts here last night, I saw there was more than one person from Florida posting here, so there could also be an odd correlation between being from Florida and being interested in lucid dreaming.

I'm not sure about the calculators part, but the rest I can relate to!!! (I'm still hoping for a Dragonite to be my Dream Pet in my future LD's. Or non-LD's)

Heh, summoning imaginary Pokemon friends in one's sleep... that's an interesting application of lucid dreaming. I've never conjured beings out of nothingness while lucidly dreaming, but maybe I'll learn how to do so someday and start summoning Pokemon. At that point, I'd be concerned about a Drowzee showing up to eat my dreams, though.

Good luck with the lucid dreaming Abra! My first LD happened because I turned INTO a Porygon. Perhaps you'll have similar luck

I'm going to be lame and say that Mewtwo is my favorite pokemon. He (it?) would have to be the most useful pokemon as you can actually understand what he's saying, and he comes with that helpful little perk of being able to destroy everyone. Yes, Mewtwo is the coolest -- Mr. Mime closely following, of course.

I love the Legend of Zelda series of games too! Shortly after I bought my Gamecube in 2004, I bought a disc for the console that had Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, the original Legend of Zelda, and Link's Adventure on it. I spent a few weeks that summer immersed in those games, to the point that I started having time travel dreams that resembled the storyline of Majora's Mask!

I haven't bought Twilight Princess for the Gamecube, though, since I plan to one day own a Wii (I hope Nintendo releases a black one - I want it to go with my furniture) and I just love the idea of being able to swing a Wii controller around like a sword to play the game.
