Unhappy It's me again! Halp!

I'm pretty new at this. So I just have a few more questions:

I can always make it to SP, I lay in bed for what seems like forever. Just counting and focusing on my breathing. Trying to stay awake. But nothing happens. I just lay there, totaly relaxed and kinda annoyed that nothing is happening. Just the chock board with endless numbers written on it (by me).

Is there anything I may be doing wrong?
Am I missing any signs?
What can I do?

Maybe U just need more time to fine tune it. U already made it to SP..at least U can. Sounds like Ur not relaxed enough or U would have fallen asleep..... U could try after SP counting to 20, no visualizations just count in Ur mind and back to 1 again but being aware that U have lost count meaning U are losing conciousness so it's like a warning but at the same time makes U fall asleep faster.....made me almost fall alseep but eventually I do fall asleep... The counting rate U will have to adjust to Ur level of sleepy threshold not to fast and not too slow. May work for U since U are using it after SP

I have confidence that it will work for U....I was when I used it. But there was no SP to back it up I guess.... If U do fall asleep...just adjust the counting rate.

Yeah, I normaly get to like 100 atleast, before I start over, I normaly count in totaly like 200-300 counts. Each time saying, "I am dreaming" and focusing on wrighting them on a chock-board.

So I supose maybe I should count smaller numbers, and clam down more. Relax.

What do you think about music?

Why are you trying to stay awake? You have to be asleep to have a LD.
Dont try to push things too quickly. Get your dream recall improving by having a dream journal and form a habit of doing reality checks.
When you are in SP, let go, sleep and dream. Eventually a habitual reality check will come into play and you will become conscious of the fact that you are dreaming and by definition, you are now having a LD. The next step is to control it.

There is ample evidence to show that anxiety and frustration will inhibit your chances of having a LD so take is slow and easy. Get the basic skills established and let the LD come to you.

Good luck and best wishes.

U should just focus on Ur counting and Ur conciousness. The less things to focus the easier to "fall asleep". As U count U will eventually/hopefully loose track and overshoot past 20 and U will have to 'catch' it and try to be concious. Btw I meant in the other post that U count up to 20 and start from 1 again.... Music may not be a good idea for me at least...but U can try it. IMO if U want to have sounds...try something like nature sounds...like rain or river flowing CDs which is constant and there are no sudden changes in rythem.

Thanks! I was under the impression that you made it happen. And that you pressed into and slipped into a dream. Well I supose that can happen. But I'll try your way also.

Just to re-inforce what I suggested, have a read of the post that Olinphal has made in the newbie zone titled "LD#1!!!".

(I'd create a link but dont know how. Too old I guess).

Forget the placebo. No need to write numbers..
Then you write numbers, in place of what you else could be doing.

These meme's are like crutches.. Ok to use, but one can stop using them when 'it' grows..
I know who I am, as I become...

Sleep paralysis is like when you are trying to create tone using glass full of water, using circular motion. When you push too hard, no sound comes, but when you do it just lightly, somehow it sticks in second or two and the sound starts to come. Than you may push.

SP is the same. One think after another. Relax and fade away into the dream.

I hope my english is not that bad.

Every technique we usually use to help us is just some way how to fool our brain not to thing too hard on what we have to do. YOu know. When you want to do SP.... If you concentrate too hard, you will not achieve it. If you sleep over it, you wont notice it came. But if you think about something else instead, you may be successfull. Actually GOMPgomp wrote about not using crutches. Thats right. Each technique has its downside too. When you become experienced, you will find out that it can be useless, but after using it so many times, it is hard to get rid of them.

Try this. This showed me, how complex it can be. But also how ... after some training ... we may find new approaches.

Dont get discouraged. Every piece of time you give in, will be rewarded after some time. This night i remembered 5 dreams {accidentaly} and had two lucid dreams in a row. So my total lucid count is three. First dream i had was the night before.

It seems like if you were filling a glass with water. Nothing happens, but only when it is full, you may enjoy full experience. And then .... Of to fill another one. So everything moves in cycles. And now back to your topic.

I dont have success with SP, but use the preparation and relaxation to induce my DILDs. If you fail SP attempt at the evening, you find yourself more awake, then you were before. Your body falls asleep easily and your brain is more activated. And then after sleeping for a few hours, you may have more recall and even some DILDS.

Try it out. ... You know whats cool about it? Even when you loose SP attempt, you may be sure it will help your recall.

I have been having trouble remembering my dreams latly. But in the past, I've had great sucsess. I'm just so tierd when I wake up that I can't bring myself to write them down. So I just remember bits and peices as the day goes on. hmm. I was thinkin' I should set an alarm and wake myself up so I can write them down, instead of trying to write them down as soon as I wake up to get up.

How do I wake during the dream though?

I figure, that it's all about Reality Checks. I do that. But it hasn't transfured over to the the dreams yet. Working on that.

Any other tips for controlling dreams?

Should I focus on what I want to dream about before I go to sleep, while I'm falling a sleep?

Should I try and remember, as I'm falling alseep, that I am going to be dreaming?
