      Help on WILD

Ive been here for a few months, but still havent had a lucid dream. When i try a WILD i can never get into sleep paralysis. All that happens is i lay there for a while, my body starts to feel numb and some random images pop into my head and drift away. I feel as if im on the brink of it but can never get to the next stage. I have had about 12 attempts at a WILD, maybe more.

i've been struggling with WILDs too and some helpful advice i got was that when the images pop into your head, turn them into something. start acting out the images in your head, pretend you are actually there. it might help you out, let me know!!!

      good luck!

At least you get images in your head... I'm still trying to get past the idea of relaxation...

Have you had other lucid dreams? I doubt that you can have good WILDs without having a few DILDs first.

if u wanna try what i do, I lay in my bed, and when I start drifting to sleep i keep barely pulling back awake. it helps relax alot, and it wouldnt hurt to try, right !

I always do that when I come home... I'm usually exhausted and then I keep saying to myself "Don't go to sleep. Okay, close your eyes but don't go to sleep. Turn the lights off and go under the blanket but don't go to sleep. You know what, I think i'm going to get more comfortable..." That happened today but as usual I fell asleep....

lol! that happens too... hmm... the only way that works for me is I lay in bed, repeat to myself "i will know i am dreaming when i fall asleep" and then usually my body goes into paralysis.

i use the pull to awake method if i need to because its harder

      Do you do a WBTB?

      Thanks for the replies.
Yeah ive tried WBTB and also straight up attempts in the arvo and night. On the WBTB i end up falling asleep or giving up after an hour.
I think that sometimes im about to go into sleep paralysis or get vivid images, but then i recognise that and then they go away.

      A few comments here.

First, WILD in my opinion is a more advanced technique. Per the previous comment, I would really focus on DILDS and have some succes there first. WILDs sound very appealing, but they are relatively more difficult, perhaps impossible - depending on your brain chemistry.

However, if you are going to WILD, it's crucial to do it in concert w/ WBTB. The whole idea here is to maintain conscious awareness into stage 5 sleep. If you do this first thing in the evening, you'll need to maintain awareness for 80 minutes, through stage 3 and 4 sleep, before hitting that point. An impossible task, unless you're a Tibetan monk who's been training in sleep yoga for decades. If this is unlcear, review the sleep phase tutorial on the main dreamviews page.

SP is probably an overstated requirement. If you want to experience SP, buy a theta based Brainsuites CD from Dr Jeffrey Thompson and practice meditation to it, envisioning your body evaporating from toe to head over 20 min or so. If you can stay awake, you'll al,most certainly be in a SP state. I have other visionalization techniques but you can start there.

Finally, if your caught up w/ having WILDS, then read Yuschaks book and experiement with some of the lucid trigger combinations proposed there. Galantamine/Choline is wonderful in that regards.
