Thread: Lucid dreams or non-lucid dreams

I couldn't find any thread about this particular question, so here it goes:
lately, I have experienced many dreams where I know I am dreaming and do reality checks and so, but, they don't feel the same as my first lucid (since I joined DV, It was a WILD and was a really vivid dream).
They look like movies, looks like I follow a script, for example, I once wanted to do a task of the month, and when I realized I was in a dream, I went right away to do that task, I didn't even stand there, thinking on what to do. The question is, are this dreams really lucid, or they just look lucid? And if they are LD, maybe I should just set goals before I fall asleep right?

I'm sorry if I couldn't express right, English is hard for me =P

A lucid dream is defined only as a dream in which you know you are dreaming. Because of this loose definition, lucid dreams can be completely different from one another in terms of how vivid they are, how much control you have, and how clearly you're able to think. What you experienced was lucid, it just wasn't of the same quality as the first lucid you had.

I would say that most of my lucids are not very vivid, and I do not think clearly or have much control. But I do know that I'm dreaming which makes these lucid.

This is all strange, maybe is that "vividity" that is messing with my head about what is lucidity on dreams. Maybe it's because it was a WILD and not a DILD... These lucids where followed by normal dreams that maybe erased the details of the DILD

By the way, not sure if it's you, but nice Cosplay of Midna =)

I tend to get my most vivid dreams as a result of WILD but I'm not sure if this is the norm.

Maybe not the norm but it's a very popular event of happening, having a vivid from a WILD. Either a lucid or a vivid.

If you knew that you were dreaming then it was a lucid dream. You can't dream that you are lucid, the human brain doesn't do recursion

Sometimes going with the flow is good, it makes the dream more stable.

I've had this exact thing happen to me as well. To me, it's like you are dreaming that you are in a lucid dream if that makes sense. You come to the realization that you're dreaming and then your dream body seems to go on autopilot.

This is what I think happened to me in my first lucid as well. It didn't feel majorly different from a regular dream, apart from the fact that it was about me having a lucid dream. I had another one after that, which felt a lot more real, so yeah, varying vividness I guess.

Though I don't buy the "the human mind doesn't do recursion" bit. When you focus on something a lot, then you're bound to have a couple dreams about it. Doesn't mean it has to be lucid just because the dream was centered around that specific theme.
