      first time SP

sorry if this has been posted 100 times already.. it's been on my mind all day. well here's my tale.

the last week i've been reading about lucid dreaming on this website, found it all really interesting. started keeping a dream journal but haven't actually attemped to LD. the last few nights i seem to be waking up after perhaps my first dream.. as it's only about 4 hours after i've gone to sleep. i know i've reached REM sleep because i can remember at least one dream.
last night i think i ACCIDENTLY came close to WILDing.. i woke up after my first dream, had to go to the toilet so i did and went back to bed. i'm not sure how long i was lying there but i could suddenly feel my whole body shaking, and i could hear it shaking.. somehow.. like it sounded like an earthquake.. it was REALLY intense, it was all too much for me so i tried to move and realised i could only slightly move my arms, if at all, and couldn't move my body at all. so i had to stick it out, at some point i remember hearing a sound, perhaps a voice, at that point i was completely freaked out and could feel my heart hammering, that seemed to be the end of it, i'm not sure if i fell asleep or woke up immediately but i do remember that the next time i opened my eyes it seemed as though my room was filled with.. fog i guess.. really thick fog. and the clock on the cd player on the other side of my room (which is not very bright at all) was really intense, you could see it shining through all the fog and the more i looked at it the brighter it got. and i also noticed that where ever i looked, i could see two small red dots.. as if my eyes were laser pointers. obviously i thought i must be in a dream so i did my reality test but it told me that i was awake? so not sure exactly what was going on.. the next thing i remember is turning on the light and everything was normal, and i was wide awake but a bit freaked out!

it's a bit hazy in my mind but that's what i wrote down when i woke up. i guess it wasn't really a LD but any comments would be appreciated. i found the "body asleep" phase very full on!
      cheers.

this is definetly WILDing as you had all the "tell-tale" signs of WILDing(HI,SP and the strange physical side effects such as vibrations which you defined as an earthquake),sorry if these acronyms are confusing, and yea WILDing is really full on, rather exciting sometimes( I wouldn't know as I'm yet to WILD) may I ask what Reality Check you did?
If you did the hand RC check those sometimes don't work and the writing/time RC's you may not of done properly since its in such bizzare circumstances..

nah that's okay i get all of the acronyms, i've done a bit of reading so i'm alright with most things.
i definately found SP very intense, i guess everyone does the first time. even though i'd read about the vibrations and possible sounds it was still full on. but the worst part was hearing a loud voice and then sort of feeling like there was someone in the room and not being able to move or do anything about it.
well i did the clock RC and blocked my nose and tried to breath, both told me that i was awake. so i am rather confused as to what was happening at that point! at first i was just watching the light, because it seemed to be moving close and getting brighter, then i thought this must be a dream..

Sounds like you had some crazy hypnagogia. It can be a lot more intense and convincing than you would imagine. Just think how intense and convincing your dreams will be.

Try again a few more times. The transition is never the same twice. And remember, your brain will try to trick you into believing you are awake. Don't let that happen.

Have you read Clairity's guide about what to do when you hit those vibrations?

I haven't gotten to SP yet I just get crazy HI, for the clock one it might have just not changed and the nose one you may have been lying on your face lol or else there could've been something else blocking your nose? it could be a cold if you have one..anyways I haven't gotten far enough with WILDing to experience a presence so I can't say anything out of experience but it must have been very scary

Anyways good luck with future attempts, on purpose or not just try and realize what stages your at so you can progress correctly..

Yeah, SP can be crazy at first. My first time in SP wasn't too bad though. I did alot of reading, and knew exactly what to expect. So when it came on, I knew what it was, and actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Hypnogogic Imagery can be the worst part of it though depending on what it is.

My mom and sister have it really bad when they go into SP. They see things that they would call "demons" or "ghosts", and just really freak out.

With me, I normally just see my surroundings really twist and bed and shake all over the place. Its pretty fun actually.

Yea SP is crazy the first time you go through it, but after that it gets easier, still kind of intense, but easier.

hey that's a really cool guide. i'll have to give that one a crack.. the whole idea of OBE is creepy.. but amazing..

oh and to "The Tao" - wow ghosts and demons.. that'd be a bit much for me to handle at this point, until i get a bit more comfortable with it. seeing a ghost would completely freak me out, but would be really exciting at the same time. haha.
and your mum and sister are in on it too? that's awesome.. so you can discuss it all with them.. i tried to tell me mum and dad and they asked me if i was on drugs and if i was depressed with my life and trying to escape.. hehe

Well.... its not so much they're in on it.. they both know what it is and that I do it, but with them, they go into SP on accident at times, or will wake up in the middle of the night, already in it. I've never gotten SP as bad as them.

Just last night though, I tried to WILD. Almost got there, but hit the SP and just played around in that. Started feeling like I was slowly turning in 2 different directions at the same time (weird feeling, hard to describe), and very subtle vibrations started. I couldn't get past that despite trying for a good 40 minutes.

I went to sleep, had a false awakening, in which I tried another WILD, and it worked really good in my False Awakening. I jumped right into SP within seconds, and then 10 seconds after that, was into intense vibrations and weird hypnogogic imagery. I thought I had WILDed into a dream, but it turns out, I WILDed OUT of the dream, into the real world. I could still feel the after effects of the vibrations in my throat though, that was kind of a funny feeling too.

Anyway, thats about the most that happens with me and SP. I don't get it as intense as some people.
