      Lightbulb Best non-wild technique?

I understand asking for the "best method" is a little useless considering everyone is different, but I thought I would ask anyway in order to gain a general sense of where to go from here.

I wouldn't quite call myself a lucid dreamer, but I have done a lot of research and I have been having the odd lucid dream for a number of months now. I guess what I am really trying to attempt to do is gain some consistency with lucid dreams.

I understand that the WILD is generally the easiest method, but I am having troubles with it. My sleeping patterns are extraordinarily inconsistent because of my insomnia, so it's difficult for me to get the timing right. Generally the alarm will go off either before or after REM sleep, and I usually wake several times before and after REM.

For these reasons, I am trying to find a lucid induction method that will work for me. I tried not moving in order to enter "mind awake, body asleep" but that seems to be more of an OBE method and I have yet to have this method work for me. I have also tried the FILD technique without wbtb but again I could not seem to get the timing right.

      Much appreciation.

      lol WILD is generally harder.
And, the other techniques that are rated as easy: MILD, DILD and DEILD.
MILD and DILD should work at all times of the night, so they may be good for you.

The absolute best method I've come across is the LDS, or lucid dream supplement method. I'd highly recommend buying Thomas Yuschak's book on the subject. He goes into a lot of detail about various supplements to take, dosages, and when to take them. And they work...my success rate is about 95% with Galantamine (the primary induction supplement). It's so effective that I basically can guarantee that I'll have an LD after I take it, though I usually add some others into the mix such as 5-HTP and Melatonin before bed and Choline, Alpha-GPC and Mucuna Pruriens along with the Galantamine after about 5 hours of sleep.

Technically this method is not "non-WILD," because these supplements are so effective that many times they actually CAUSE or induce a WILD. Check out this thread for more info.
