      New to All This...

Hey, I'm thelastninja, or, Ninja, if you like. I've had a couple LDs, but they are always rather short, and I have trouble controlling what goes on.

The dreams are kinda fuzzy, but I know I'm dreaming. Sometimes I can direct what people do, usually by arguing with them (IF I SAY YOUR FACE SHOULD BE GREEN, TURN IT GREEN!)

I've tried to focus my dreams on certain things, meet certain people, go certain places, but I always wake up too soon. Any tips?

About me: I'm a 15 year old student in New Jersey. I love reading and writing (mostly Sci-fi and Fantasy), and am currently obsessed with the works of Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly/Serenity, and Dollhouse)... I also love broadway musicals. That's about it...

Welcome to Dreamviews! It's fairly common to wake up early* during your first few lucids. This will improve simply by having more lucid dreams, luckily. Have you tried stabilization techniques (rubbing your hands together, spinning)? How do your failed attempts go (do you remember what your goal is?)?

*You could be truly waking up early, due to excitement or inexperience (as your brain may initially have trouble being fully conscious and dreaming at the same time). Another possibility is that you became lucid at the natural end of your dream (again, you're likely to be more conscious closer to waking).

When does season 2 for Dollhouse begin, by the way? :x

Welcome to Dreamviews! Abra gave a nice response, but one thing I would like to add is this. I'm not sure if this is happening to you, but if you begin to worry or even think about not wanting to wake up during your dream, this can cause your experience to be cut short. I used to have trouble with thinking I was going to wake up or beginning to worry I would wake, and often times this caused me to wake. The best way I found to solve this was to make sure I was engaged in dream activity as much as possible. Thinking about what was going on around helped out alot. Well good luck in your future efforts!

Alright, thanks for the advice. I'll keep trying at it. The hand rubbing thing I've heard before, sounds like a good idea. Another problem I have in LDs is remembering what I wanted to do in the first place.

Also, Dollhouse airs on the 25th.

Did you check out the tutorial section? There are some good ones in there, check out the link in my signature. I'd recommend the dream signs one.
