How to have a WILD and When?

Im new to lucid dreaming and the only thing I've really been doing to increase my lucidity is practising dream recall. One night though I came up with the idea to have a lucid dream. I decided to try the WILD so I closed my eyes relaxed my body and focused my mind on flying above a tropical island, after some time I had the feeling I floated away and my body felt strange, but my mind was still clear. Then I just got excited and woke up.
The problem is that when I try to have a WILD now I cant concentrate and my mind is to active.

I think I tried it this morning, although I just tried to force myself to do RCs when weird and completely random stuff appeared in my mind - When I did that, the sensation disappeared, though
      Wait, what?

One of the key points during the WILD process, is staying calm. Fortunately, that should easily come with experience. If you are having trouble concentrating/forming your own dream scene, you can always let your mind wander and allow the dream scene to more or less, form on its own. Just passively listen/watch any HH you may have. Eventually the HI should began to form in full blown scenes/visions. At this point you are very close and you can either try to form your own scene (like you did before) or sit back for a bit longer and allow the dream to form itself.

As for the best times to WILD, for WBTB I suggest trying after 4+ hours of sleep. The most popular time seems to be after 6 hours of sleep. The further along into sleep you are, the longer your REM periods last. For naps, I suggest 1-5 hours after waking in the morning. I, personally, like to WILD during naps. Simply because I am too lazy to do WBTBs most of the time.

      Well, good luck to you!

Question, have you ever been able to do these two at one night?
This night I want to do a normal WBTB and in the morning a nap, but maybe you havn't had any succes with it and it will be just a waste of time.

And about the WILD, I think it's very difficult. However my WILD experience was intenser then the "normal" LD's. The feeling was very strong. I think you just have to be very calm, try to meditate first.
Longterm Goal: Be a master of my dreams
Midterm Goal: Stay motivated in LD-ing
Shortterm goal: Stay lucid for a long time

      Total LD: 35 (11-06-2010)

Be rested - meditate - wake up and write down

I have definately had multiple WILDs in one night. I know I have had 3 in one night several times, but I'm not sure if I have had more than that. WILD can definately be difficult (especially when you first start practicing it), but in my opinion, WILDing gets easier with experience. Just keep at it, your work will pay off in the end . Good Luck to you!
