      New lucid dream seeker

      Hello, everyone!

I was referred here by a member of one of my other forums I frequent (too much actually, lol), and so have been lurking the last 2 days and reading up

When "lucidity" was brought up by the member, I thought it was "vivid", but guess not. After learning about lucid dreams, I can only recall 2-3 that I've had, which I believe were DEILD. 2 were more nightmares. I think I may have had a 3rd, but I can't actually remember. For the 2, one was someone tried to break into my house, or something(can't recall exactly). They ended up leaving, but my dad went onto the porch to make sure they left, I was behind him, and one guy walked up to him and shot him point blank . Something then triggered in my mind that I could wake up if I wanted, but for some reason kept my eyes closed. I was able to continue dreaming for at least 10 seconds. I think I was in high school when I had it

The other was when I was younger, elementary school maybe. Strange dream. If anyone's been in a warehouse, you know all the piping on the cieling? Well I was driving a monster truck on them(small monster truck though). Ended up in my room somehow and this nasty rat bit my index finger and it's teeth sank in deep and I screamed and started hitting it against the floor and wall and door. I then realized I could wake up if I wanted, but kept my eyes closed to see if the rat would detach itself. After 10sec or so, I woke up

Both times I was more watching the event unfold and letting my mind control what happened next, but I was aware I could wake up and end the nightmare(The thought in my mind was "I can wake up," but not, "I'm dreaming"). Are my 2 experiances valid DEILDs?

I've also had one dream twice. Crazy phycadelic spot background and a miner 49er kind of guy. All I remember

2 nights ago I tried RBing, but really did nothing

Last night I tried SP. I think I felt the vibrations, and slow waves. Also started to see HH (have had this happen many times but think I was jsut really tired), then they started to turn blue and green and almost looked like laying next to a tree looking at the sky so tried to HIT, but it didn't pan out. I never got "heavy", but did try to lift my finger and was almost difficult (then would try once more and it's like it was let go and I could do it), so I'm not sure if I did get to SP, or I was on the brink. I do have a fan that runs so don't know if the sound would interfere, but the more relaxed I got, the less I heard it and the more I heard my thoughts run by(no whoshing sounds, though I THINK I may have heard my dad in another room[but he was asleep], not sure), so wasn't scary for me at all

One last thing. When trying to go to sleep sometimes, I don't think I'm anywhere near SP, but my head feels like it will slowly rotate and my whole body then feels like it's slowly rotating. Kind of a cool feeling. Is that part of getting into SP, or could it just be my head acting funny?

I know this is kind of long, but it's really intriguing to me now and thought I'd share my experiances

I hope to be able to find a way to achieve lucidity. SP seemed to be working pretty well last night, so will try it again. Have been doing RCs throughout the day as well (finger into palm, count fingers, look at text/digi clock[whichever is around at the time]). Hope to learn a lot here. Looks like a great site

Welcome to Dreamviews! I believe your lucid experiences were DILDs (dream induced lucid dream), because you just simply became lucid during the dream. A DEILD (dream exit induced lucid dream) is where you actually wake up and return to sleep immediately, thus entering directly into the dream state and REM.

Congrats on your progress so far with SP. That form of becoming lucid is known as a WILD. It is where you enter the dream state directly from waking life without losing consciousness. I suggest trying to hit SP/perform a WILD during a WBTB (wake back to bed). Simply set an alarm for 4-6 hours after you will fall asleep, wake up for a few minutes (15 should do it) and then attempt to get into SP and WILD. You can also WILD during naps, 1-6 hours after waking in the morning is a good target time. Trying to WILD before sleep is much more difficult and has a much lower success rate than WBTBs and naps. Good Luck to you, and if you have any further questions feel free to ask away !

PS: The feeling of your whole body rotating is most likely HH as well.

Ok, I thought that in a DEILD tut it said that your body wakes up, but your mind is still in dream mode, so that's the reason I thought it was that

I will try to SP for a WILD/ WBTB next time I get up to go to the bathroom maybe?

I was reading up on SP, but didn't seem to really be any solid steps to how far along you are in achieving SP as it varies. Is it something I'll just have to figure out on my own?

Also, how do I make it so I don't subscribe to threads? I've done it on another vB, but can't figure it out again... or does it stay logged as "Do not Subscribe" down in the Additional Options below the text box I'm writing in? Thanks

Would like to also add that I've experianced something where I wake up, but my eyes are "stuck" shut. I can force them open, but only for about a second, and even that, it's squinting. On the forum where I heard of DV we were talking about dreaming and it was brought up the unopening of the eyes from 2 other people, so it seems like it could happen more than I think. Could it have been a FA? For me, I'm sitting up in bed or trying to look at my clock sort of, but then lay back down for a bit, then open my eyes and I'm fine. I can only recall this happening 2ce for sure. MAYBE a 3rd, but not sure about it

SP is different for everyone and is usually a different experience every time you achieve it. Usually, for me anyway, it begins with slight vibrations that grow more and more intense as the process moves along. I will begin to see random flashes of images/objects (HI) which progressively become more and more detailed as the process moves along. Soon enough I can see full blown dream scenes and dreamscapes paired with many auditory hallucinations. Your other experience could very well have been a false awakening. You also simply could have woke up while still under a bit of sleep paralysis. To unsubscribe to the thread, you can click the "thread tools" option and then select unsubscribe. Good Luck to you!

      Found it

Tried to WBTB last night but was too tired. I can't find a good position to SP in. I'm used to laying on my side or stomach, and when I start to get relaxed, I drool on my pillow and it's distracting, lol . I did better on my back, even though I really don't like it, that's how I got close to SP as I described in my first post, so may just have to deal with it being slightly unfamiliar in order to SP better
