      Is this normal?

      I was trying to wild for the first time and then my whole body had a tinkle and i went numb, Then i heard glass breaking, Sadly this caused me to jerk and get out of SP. I couldn't find any broken glass in my house. Is it normal? Or do sounds mean i'm insane?

      Seconded. Auditory hallucinations are fairly common when in SP.

      Don't worry about it too much. Getting HH is a good sign, and you can always try again. You might want to read up on some other hallucinations you may experience during SP, so that you'll know what to expect.

      I am so lucky. The only sound I ever hear is the sound of a pond. I can hear the bugs, and the fish swimming, and the water trickling. So relaxing...

      You could try what I do to keep that from happening again. I always wrap something around my eyes and ears (usually a dark T-shirt) so as to assure myself that anything I see or hear is in a dream, because real sights and sounds would be muffled at best through the cover. I tend to not react to any of them and disturb the SP that way

      @Don Juan Lol!

      I've heard a door closing, a person inhaling sharply, and last night I heard someone talking - every time, I knew instantly that it was just hypnagogic hallucinations. Yes, those sounds can be INCREDIBLY real. That's how you know they're the HI or HA. I like LiveInTheDream's suggestion, there. Make it so that you can only hear or see hallucinations, if anything.

      I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

      You can manipulate the sounds too, if you want. This thread, for example, really made me laugh. Since then I've paid more attention to weird noises, and had a listen to "Summer of 69" last time- perfect quality. Don't worry about "ruining your chances", you were close, and there's always next time. Anything that that happens to you before your first WILD is just progress.

      I hear the strangest things when I WILD. I hear voices, conversations, loud mechanical noises, animals breathing. You name it, it pops into my brain.

      Don't worry about it. It is normal. When you start to enter REM sleep, you have tiny muscle spasms in your ear that cause these random sounds that are then given a full hallucination. Similar to how your eyes move when you enter REM, your ear moves, too. Rapid Ear Movement.
      Changes in compliance of the tympanic membrane have been detected in normal human sleep, presumably due to spontaneous contraction of the stapedius and tensor tympani muscles of the middle ear. In the waking state, these muscles generally respond to loud sound (middle ear reflex). Middle ear muscle activity typically erupts before or at the onset of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and persists throughout the REM period in a discontinuous pattern resembling that exhibited by rapid eye movements. Approximately 80 percent of all nocturnal middle ear muscle activity is contained in REM sleep. Half of the remaining 20 percent occurs in the 10-minute intervals just prior to the onset of REM sleep. Middle ear muscle activity is often associated with other phasic events such as momentary enhancement of electromyogram inhibition, apnea, and K complexes. Rapid eye movements and middle ear muscle activity, though significantly correlated in REM sleep, are not always simultaneous.
