Thread: Can you feel things you haven't done yet?

Hi i'm brand new here, I haven't had a lucid dream yet.
I was wondering if you can experience things in your dreams that you can imagine but you haven't actually felt in real life.
Ex: you want to go skydiving in your dreams but you haven't been before in real life, what would happen if you tried to.

It would take your memories of jumping, falling, and wind, as well as uneasy stomach say when you jump too high on a trampoline or go on a roller coaster

In short, yes, I believe jarrhead was correct in his post above as to why this could happen (kudos), but I've actually had it happen to me before, a sort of proof if you will. I dreamed one night that I smoked pot, and I got high in my dream. I had never smoked pot, nor done any type of drug which creates a strong euphoric feeling, yet in my dream I felt genuinely high. Later in life when I finally did smoke pot I was surprised at how it felt almost exactly like when I did it in my dream. Now this could be my mind trying to experience it in a way which I thought it should (i.e. a sort of placebo effect). I also had a dream in which I met this hot chick who gave me cocaine, and I got really high in my dream and kept doing lines until it overwhelmed me and I blacked out, unfortunately, when I awoke I found the girl had taken advantage of my super wasted state, and convinced me to murder someone (which I didn't remember doing, but knew I had done). Thankfully in real life I never have nor will I ever do cocaine (or hurt/kill anyone). I've also died and been tortured several times in my dreams (once blown up with a grenade), and though that's never happened to me in real life, the pain of dying and being tortured in my dream was very real, and I woke up really stressed out.

Heck yes! If you can imagine imagining it, you can do it. The crazy part is, it might feel different than you would assume. The dream does not come directly from your conscious thoughts. There is still a filter that makes connections you might not be aware of.

I figured as much, but i'm wondering does it feel exactly like the original? I mean how can it possibly feel to go at light speed unassisted, its impossible for us to do and I doubt we can comprehend it.

That's kinda what I am saying, I had no idea what smoking weed felt like, but when I finally did it was pretty much exactly like it felt in my dream. The only thing that was different when I did it for real was the munchies However, there is no way to test it yet with things like going light speed, as humans (as far as we know) have never done that. If you pull that off in a lucid dream though, please post, I would be interested to see how that goes. I would imagine our brains are pretty good at assuming what things should feel like, and they just BS the rest.
