Superbowl Commericals 2011

Yup...it's that time again. This years commercials look even worse, but at least the game seems more exciting. So far there are at least two movies that I want to see. Cowboys vs. Aliens, and Fast Five. Normally they talk about some blockbuster that doesn't come out for at least a few months. My bet is it'll be something from Marvel.

Edit: Guess it's transformers...which looks awesome, but I hope they plan on having an actual story line this time.

I love how America actively throws these capitalism parties. It's on UK TV right now and I've never seen it before... it's pretty bizarre from a foreign perspective how the TV companies get to stop the game several times for breaks, and basically the entire sport takes a backseat to the commercials.

Uh, nooo. The game is on break so they go to commercials for a bit. Have you noticed that they only get about 2mins worth of commercials. Most TV shows have 5mins of commercials. Football puts in commercials duing the break on the field

Anyway, I liked the Pepsi Zero commercial where the wife hits the jogger chick in pink, and also the Snickers commercial where the log hits Rosanne, haha

EDIT: The beaver one was pretty funny also

Packers won, yah!

I love how Europe is embracing it by airing the Superbowl over there, and hosting at least one regular season game over there per year as well. But anyways, this thread isn't about that. It's about the silly less important stuff, like movie previews, and that one commercial where the monkeys ruin this guys car by parking too close to it.

That commercial was hilarious.

Overall, I thought a lot of the commercials this year were just kind of...weird. Not altogether good or bad, but some of them were just kind of awkward.
I'm looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens, Fast Five, Battle: Las Angeles and Captain America. Still on the fence about Thor.

I also liked the one where the woman was smacking the guy in the head and stuff, when he was cheating on his diet, and then he got a Pepsi Max and she showed up behind him, but couldn't hit him. So then he starts talking to this jogging chick, and his wife goes to throw the can at him. He ducks and the can hits the jogger in the side of the head and damn near kills her. Lol.

The commercials were okay and bad at times, half time sucked though and so did the national anthem. On the upside the game was good.

Yeah. I can't believe Christina fucked up the words to the National Anthem. She's probably going to hear about this one for a while! Hahaha.

I thought they were a bit dry in humor this year, the doritos one with the finger sucking was definitely memorable.

Haha, that's one way of putting it. Ummmmm...there was one other movie I was looking forward to, and I think it had to do with a number in the title......all I know is Seven Spielberg and JJ Abrams are in on it. Okay, just googled it. "Super 8" looks like it's going to be one of those "theater movies". I want to see it the Friday it comes out, and ignore whatever review that comes out before it.

But when you go to adverts every three minutes we go to the TV studio where the commentators and professionals talk about the game, please try harder to make sense.

I'm saying that I like that American Football is getting international publicity, and I enjoy the commercials as well. Once again, the purpose of this thread isn't to talk about the pace of the game, or the sport and it's "commercial timeouts". It's about the commercials themselves and what was enjoyable or not so enjoyable about them.

Back on topic...did anyone catch that new Pirates of Caribbean movie? Penélope Cruz is in it. That's all I have to say.

My favorite commercial was probably the little kid dressed up as Darth Vader trying to use the force...I forget what kind of car it was advertising lol.

On the other hand....I watch the super bowl mostly just for the game...I love American football and thought this was the worst year for commercials...they really weren't funny.

The game was awesome though....I am very glad Packers won this one.....I loved listening to all of the Pittsburgh fans make excuses on why they lost...

I really didn't care for 2, 3 was a little better. 4 looks pretty good though, can't wait

I've never been all that excited about the Pirates movie. I've only seen pieces of the series (the only one I think I've seen all the way through is the first one), but I've just never been as crazy about them as so many other people have.

The Darth Vader kid was on the news today. Haha. He actually got to meet James Earl Jones, after doing that commercial. Awesome. As was said, he's probably the biggest star to come out of the Super Bowl this year. LOL. Cute kid, too.

When the first one came out, and they made another, I said I'd wait till they made a trilogy and just buy them all. Apparently they don't know when to quit. But yeah, I haven't watched any of them besides part one. I was going through a "don't support a triliogy" phase around the time they started making sequels.
