      Ok.
This is what we are going to do now.
All you little girls with your lemonades go to the bed, while adults start to drink real beer.

Does it taste good? Cause like... If I want something strong, I will usually go for whiskey.

I love the packaging on that thing though. Let us know if it's good!

Yeah, is it enjoyable or just a novelty? Is it carbonated? I've heard that stronger beers (in the order of 20%) resemble port wine more than beer.

More like a once in a lifetime novelty. And yes, beer starts to taste like wine already over 10%. Not what I call decent. I am more a whiskey drinker myself.

      Yeah, on the basis of
      1) these two beers, one an IPA named "Punk" and the other plastered with a couple pages of copy that basically just restate the ABV, and
      2) the fact that they named their brewery "brewdog,"
I'm going to guess that their viability as a brewery rests less on knowledge of the craft than on convincing people who don't know any more than they do about beer that they know more than they do about beer. Parse those pronouns any way you like.

I goddamn hate the people at Brewdog.

I hate them very very much.

That is not how you make a beer cool. No it is not.

I've seen an out of the way, rickety town pub. With olden class and grime and charm. Ruined by that damn Brewdog advertised and sold all over the place. It is not in keeping with the aesthetic or sensibility of the 'serious beer' drinker at all.

I was reminded today of a very solid, pretty mainstream American beer that's great for summer:

I find most of Sierra Nevada's brews dull, but their Kellerweis is as good or better than any American wheat beer I've had, including Oberon, which once upon a time was my summer brew of choice (though I think the quality has fallen off since they massively expanded production in the mid 'oughts). I'd even take it over Paulaner's hefeweizen, though that one may drink better closer to the source.

Before I scream "blasphemy", I have to try it for myself. Those are very bold words sir.

      Live beer thread!

I've been experimenting a lot lately, I've nearly finished sampling everything Unibroue (my fav brewer so far) has to offer.

      One spectacular highlight was "Terrible"

      Spoiler for Not so terrible:

I highly, highly recommend anything labeled Unibroue.

I've also been sampling Simple Malt, another Quebec brand. Their "Fumée Massive" is a really unique smoked beer.

      Spoiler for Smokey:

I'm still looking for some Delirium Tremens, love Belgian ales...

I've also heard of a pub in town that holds the legendary Westvleteren, apparently the "best" beer in the world. Definitely have to check that out some time...

      Duvel.

I can personally attest that this is a very nice Belgian beer.

Being in Canada, I've also noticed Canadians do not like nice beer. Every popular beer here like "Coors Light" tastes like salty water.

Hardly a fair estimation of the nation with the best Belgian-style ales this side of the pond (Unibroue). Most people in Belgium almost certainly drink terrible beer, too. Many people in Europe feel sophisticated drinking Budweiser because it's imported.

Get new friends, I'm a big fan of Quebec craft beers. Coors Light is American and not so much beer as it is fermented goat urine.

Tried some Dieu du Ciel!, a fairly popular micro-brewery in Quebec but probably more obscure abroad than Unibroue.

      Spoiler for Last Will:

      Spoiler for Aphrodisiac:

      Spoiler for Deadly Sin:

Their stouts fill a nice gap in the Unibroue line.

If you're really in Ottawa, go across the river to Gatineau to an IGA grocery store and look for Unibroue. They have variety packs this time of year with 3-4 different kinds, as well as those wonderful big corked 750 mL bottles. You can also go to the Marché Omni on Bégin street in Hull, tucked away in the back they have an awesome selection. I pick up "Dieu du Ciel!" and "Simple Malt" from there.

Oohhhh I am looking forward to this... Got two bottles of the new Unibroue 17 Grande Réserve. Might pop one open tonight (I have a red Chimay to try as well).

I was pleasantly surprised with the Chimay, the red cap is their entry level beer and it was really good. Must try the others.

The Unibroue 17 was fantastic, but I had very high expectations...

I picked up another Trappist beer, St. Bernardus Abt 12, you can't go wrong with these.
