Deery: The only thing perfect about many of these girls is that they know how to put on make-up. And they have good hair-stylists. Other than that they look ordinary. The facepalm is because there always has to be a girl to come point out "the awful truth" which is not true at all. It comes across that you are mad at men for being attracted to people that you feel inferior to. I don't know if this is the case, but if so it is a phase that many women never outgrow. It is not that you said anything stupid, It is just so predictable and tiresome and a double standard.

Oh, and this is a girl I find fairly attractive. She's hardly supermodel material.
It's because of the way she is as well. At least in shows/movies.

I don't think she is hot, but her confidence and soul and open honesty are attractive.

No offense, Deery, but your saying this implies that you either haven't taken the time to look at all of the pictures in this thread, or your opinion is skewed by this resentment you have for the (even if true) idea that men focus more on physical beauty than women.

There are different facets of attraction. Using a word like "sexy" or "hawt" about someone doesn't immediately imply what turns you on about them. Tommo got it perfectly when he highlighted how you're flaming the people who post "intimidatingly perfect, skinny, gorgeous" just as much as those who post "voluptuous" women. The two are opposites. You shouldn't use phrases like 'holier-than-thou', in response to other peoples' gestures, when your entire argument comes off as such. You're wearing the fact that you 'as a woman' find non-physically impressive guys as attractive (as if men don't have women they feel the same way about) as some kind of badge of refinement - jumping at the chance to throw out an example, whenever you can, to drive home the point - when you know damn good and well, that there are men on your roster that you feel just a physical, animal attraction too. If there aren't, then I can't readily assume that to be a good thing, and have to wonder whether or not it's genuine, and you are being honest with yourself.

Let me put it to you this way:
Growing up, I was always a bit overweight. I was also usually the only black dude in most of my social groups, so if anyone knows what it's like having to deal with being 'different', it's me. I was also one of the warmest, most easy to get along with guys in my circles. However I have never gotten as much attention as I have, when I started working out and shaping myself up - building muscle and changing my stance. I'll be 30 this year. That is a long time to be keeping track of such a thing. That is empirical proof (to me) that this theory you have about "women don't care about looks. Guys do." is not quite as prevalent as you seem to think it is. I've had this conversation with girls before, and it tends to come off as a 'playing the victim' sort of distortion of reality, wherein girls who have had to come up being judged by their looks (and yes, there are many, and it's not altogether a good thing, I agree.) are somehow alone in this burden, and guys don't have to deal with it too.

Well that, my Deer, is bullshit. Maybe it is on skewed ratio which favors the men, but the fact is that it happens to both genders, and you should really put the talons back in, when you're bashing men for their preferences just because they don't vibe with yours.

Besides, let's not forget that this is a 'post pictures' thread. Pictures imply eye-candy. We're all proud of the fact that we can find both physically and non-physically attractive people as 'hawt,' for their qualities, but you can't see Einstein's intelligence in a photograph. Get me?

Deery, women do the same thing. Look at the thread title. "sexy, hawt". People posting here are instantly thinking about who that is, and then sticking them here. This happens to be the people who have the hair stylests, makeup artists etc. But that doesn't mean they're going to stick their nose up at average looking girls. I myself, are not attracted to these women, but I'm posting pics of girls I think really stand out to me.

A lot of people have an ingrained feel for what's physically attractive. But it's VERY different in real life.
I was ubber small and skinny throughout my teens. I had horrible self esteem because people picked on me, yadda yadda.
Then I became a stripper. While I don't think of myself as anywhere close to hot, I can be fairly pretty when I make some effort. But guess what?
The men at the clubs still didn't drool over me. Most wouldn't even come to the stage to watch me take everything off. I give off some sort of weird "innocence" vibe that make males want to protect me or be a big brother to me

Male or female, I tend to be drawn to contradictions- like dark skinned people with pale eyes.

People have different tastes of what is attractive. Like someone else said, if we knew the personality of half these people on this thread (and the man candy one) we would feel differently. Women have been conditioned to believe we have to be perfectly skinny, use makeup, be easy, look perfect, have D size cups, get botox, etc etc. to look beautiful, so I can see where Deery is coming from, but not every person believes that skinny, perfect, dress almost naked,dye their hair, adhere to today's standards of sexy, etc etc. (basically not being themselves) is good looking. Yes, that is what some guys find the most attractive, they might be shallow and only care about looks, etc. But thats not always the case. The same goes in the men thread, most of those guys are flawlessly perfect (to the general viewer) but that's not what everyone finds attractive, men have been conditioned to be attractive they have to be buff, strong, tall, have a 6 pack of abs, etc. So it goes both ways...I don't personally find a buff guy attractive, but that's just my taste. Just because someone thinks that someone like that is attractive, doesn't mean they only care about looks. (although some do). So can we please stop fighting? These threads are solely on the purpose of eye candy, not what defines completely what you think is the ideal person. I can tell you, in my life, just walking down the street, I have seen prettier woman, and cuter guys than on either of these threads, but they aren't a famous model, or buff, or have globs of makeup on their face.
