Sitting here looking at my laptop,

I hear a noise. Almost like a metallic chirping. Like a cricket, but the sound continues smoothly.

If i turn my head to the left, without moving the rest of my body, I cannot hear the noise at all, not even faintly. It completely disappears.

WTF?

I notice this kind of this happening from time to time. Any thoughts on why this might be?

My ONLY guess would be blood flow past one of your ears. When you turn your head, the artery/vein that the blood is flowing through is slightly repositioned.

The chirping could be smooth because of your heart beat. I can hear the blood in my ears occasionally but when I get up and move the sound goes away.

Or maybe you have metal crickets that know when you turn your head.

That happens to me much too frequently. I usually track the noise to my AC unit, computer or something outside. It always humors me that I can only hear it at certain angles so I usually start acting stupid/goofy (sort of like doing the hokey pokey with just my head

) until I get bored or the noise stops.

I got this for quite a while. As far as I could ascertain it did not come from anywhere physical.

I could hear it when there was no noise around only IIRC.

I would get closer to what I thought was the source, but it would go away. And I could only hear it from certain positions. Possibly the way I was looking/head direction etc. Not sure though.

To me it sounded like similar to what you describe, but I would describe it as alien noises, like transmitting signal to Earth lol. Like what you hear on movies in the sound effects. If you know what I mean.
Does that sort of match what you hear?

Or maybe I just announced my insanity.
