Lulz, here in Canada, Little Mosque On The Prairie is one of the most popular shows on tv (or at least it was at one point, not sure about now). |
Nothing makes my blood boil like moronic bigotry. >:l |
Am I supposed to understand that if the TV show were about a muslim family that secretly operated as a terrorist cell for Al Qaeda it would have been fine? |
Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
That is literally the basic argument. |
Face.... |
I saw it earlier, the Senator in the state is pushing a discrimination lawsuit against Lowes. |
It's really sad sometimes... because people here joke around about a Muslim friend "being a terrorist" even though it's not really that funny. I made a simple statement pretty much saying "Muslim does not equal terrorist" and one of my Muslim friends said "that was really cool" but it wasn't cool... it was just the ONLY logical conclusion you can reach... isn't it? (key word being logical.) And then people assume that all Muslims are Middle-Eastern even though only about 30% are... |
Lowe's? They were just following profits. The Christian group (sorry, "family" group) should be the ones getting hit with a lawsuit. |
Is it not profitable to not advertise...? Because they seem like they are losing customers from the blowback. |

They won't. Companies really do suck at PR. Almost universally. They think oh lawd one group of people are going to bring us down, better appease them before they bring everyone else along for the ride! |
Chances are there are dozens of other people with ads on during the show, most of them not caring what the show is about, but instead about the demographics of the people who watch. Had they just ignored the group it is unlikely the group would boycott all companies that had ads running, and if they did it is way to many for a serious boycott and most members wouldn't really put in the effort. |
Why is it that the corporate-backed special interest groups and the CRAZY special interest groups get things accomplished, but the serious ones never do? |
Coz they have a lot of, also CRAZY, followers. No one knows what crazy people might do next. |

This isn't surprising at all. Since 9/11 and Bush, the whole climate of America has been "all Muslims/Arabs are evil backwards terrorists, don't trust them". |
