Your problem there if you're looking for demographics is a lot of people will just opt out of your poll (like I did).
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. Self identification is a big issue right now within the British LGBT community. More and more people are just chosing not to class themselves as anything, what with all the negative connotations that follow.

An interesting part of it is the 'Queer' movement, the word is being adopted by people who don't want to disclose anything about their gender identification or sexual preference. Classing yourself as this defeats the object though I feel, it still shows you're not straight. Also, 'Queer' isn't exactly the best word they could have chosen.

I read this damn thread last night before bed and had a dream that my ex decided he was gay. It feels pretty terrible to know that you're the one to turn men off women forever.

For the longest time, when I was a few years younger from when I was around 15 years old, I honestly thought, that something terrible was wrong with me, that I was some kind of freak of nature, For liking guys not just girls exclusively.

And it got me thinking, maybe alot more people in our society are non-hetero then we think, can you imagine how terrible it feels to hide your TRUE self to the entire world and put on this whole mascarade pretending your straight, its maddening!

So I brainstormed and thought, maybe thats why so many people have personal issues, maybe there are alot of people like me, stuck in the closet, too embarrased to come out and tell everyone, which deep down makes their spirit weakened and broken, like a bird with broken wings.

      Anyways what do you think?

It's just sad how, weve been to the moon, we've stopped genocide, we've broke land speed records and tamed wild animals.
\YET, we still as a society try to ignore then criticize and put down the non-hetero and the non-whites and the non-"normal" people.

We've come so far as a race, but still SO MUCH left to accomplish in our society, like REAL EQUALITY, for all men women and children, for gays straights and bi's, for transgenders and people with mental illness, for the blacks and the latinos and the asians, and for everyone else who has EVER been told they are not normal!

We must stand up and let ourselves be heard

like a wise man said "I'M AS MAD AS HELL AND IM NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

      GREAT MOVIE!, lol network 197*?

I dunno about that "non-whites" thing. Heh, you think the US is bad? A white person experiences overwhelming amounts of racism in any non-white country.

Hehe! I don't agree that it's karma or anything like that. I consider myself to be extremely non-racist. I mean, I don't even notice a person's skin color. I've dated outside my race, and about half of my best friends are non-white. So, I think it quite unfair when someone assumes I'm racist just because I'm white, or when people in other countries treat me funny because of my skin color. Meh.

Well you're just exagerating. Heterosexual could be 0 and 1, bisexual 2, 3 and 4, and homosexual 5 or 6. The poll is asking you your main sexuality - if you have incidental behaviour or preference over one or another is another thing.

That said, the freedom to create a poll asking people their sexuality in the Kinsey scale is all yours

@ alex: Identification is a complex matter - and that's why I made the poll this way. I wanted to know what people consider themselves I'd gladly exchange the word "homosexuality" for "homoafectivity" or "boys who like boys and girls who like girls", but it'd be overly... ridiculous.

maybe i take back the whole karma thing

we just need to accept ALL living things, humans, animals, plants

and we will live in peace, but...thats a long ways away

I'm ahead of the game like you mes, i dont judge by race 1 bit, i would date someone outside my race most likely.

heh, well if theres 1 thing im still lacking its the understanding of a woman, like you mes

thats why I LOVE talking and hanging out with women, they open my mind some more and make me feel right at home

most guys i hang out with call everything gay and stupid and they just criticize everything and anything for the sake of criticizing....a guy thing i guess?

i try not to be a 'guy' in the general sense, i prefer acting more female like cause well, females are open minded, understanding and compassionate, and i strive to be that!

i'm not saying i walk and talk like a female but, i sure try to be more like one while still fitting my own male body...god its confusing hehe

(everyone keeps telling me how i laugh like a little girl though..haha!)

I'm just a girly boy (sorta)

I've also got a quick question

Since ive SORTA come out, well internet-come out....why the hell do i feel the need to discuss my sexuality so much? i feel like all those years and yearrrrrrrs of hiding it cant be held back anymore and i HAVE to discuss it

      that normal?

Banning? We've not been allowed to give blood since the aids thing all those years ago. Over here, teenage women are a higher risk group now, so really they have no justification for stopping us donating... unless they ban women.

ahh ignorance, I can't wait till they get a bad batch of hetero blood and then we'll see whos the diseased ones!

You're basically right that people don't "wake up and decide," but sexuality isn't always a fixed value over the lifetime, either. I
have one friend and one relative who both switched teams partly in response to soured relationships. The friend went from straight-leaning bi to strictly lesbian, and the relative from strictly gay to strictly straight.

Thats strange to me cause I've always loved looking at both sexes, for me theres no switching sides or anything because i love both pretty much equally and i can't picture myself just choosing 1 side or acting more masculine or more femenine...maybe every gay/lesbian/bi is completely different?

meh, finding other like-minded partners is so fin hard, whys it gotta be so hard? i feel sooo embarrassed to tell any guy i like him, so im like stuck with girls for now (not that its a bad thing!)

i just wanna divert my time to guys more right now i havent forgotten about you girls

how does one go about finding someone whos right for them, ya know, a gay/bi partner...to me it seems almost impossible!

i wish i had a strong bf/gf, someone who would protect me and dominate me and make me feel safe and secure and loved.

meh im too shy to talk to that girl i like, and im even MORE SHY to tell a guy i like him

      im hopeless lol

I think that nowadays, in a lot of western countries, the least civilised thing is the intolerance shown towards those who are anything but hetrosexual. I also think that that same intolerance is one of the worst things about the church, along with its prohibition of contraception and abortions. I'm straight, but I can imagine becoming attracted to guys in the future. Maybe.

      Interesting topic.

I was also wondering, anyone know a good forum for this kind of topic? like a forum for gays bi's and whatnot? I duno if everyone on DV is quite comfortable with these topics?

anyways, I just want to discuss sexuality a bit more, it intreigs me (spelling yea i know)
      So i was wondering

How did you guys know you were straight, or bi, or gay, or lesbian, or TG?

For me it was easy really, i think i posted it earlier anyways. i just sorta knew deep down that, i had a strong attraction for men and women, I used to think i was some kind of freak or some kinda abnormality

But not, i love being bi, its like...a gift, i accept it whole-heartedly and im glad im the way I am i wouldn't want to be any other way, ive pretty much just BEGUN to take my journey to find the real me and what i really want and need and dream about.

I no longer am shameful of what I am and i thank you guys here for helping me with this issue, if it wasnt for you guys i'd still be hiding it to myself and ignoring it like i did for years, but, thats what i am, a bisexual and i wont change for anybody and maybe 1 day i can come out and tell EVERYONE!

...now i got butterflys in my stomach feeling from just thinking about coming out.

i'm really not sure what i do want to do, tell my family/friends, or just pretend im only into girls...i really don't know how to go about this, i know my parents would NOT APPROVE AT ALL, and i know my friends would probably ridicule me for a while or maybe just stop being friend with me altogether, they seem to not be accepting to gays and bi's, hell once i even told a friend, and he got so freaked out, I HATE TO SAY IT WAS A JOKE!! or else he would of told everyone else like a immature idiot..

      i duno what to do!

I hate to say it, but young people are terribly intolerant towards homosexuals, especially gay guys. I'm at high school, and I know. People use it as an insult, and yeah, you really don't want to be gay at high school unless you have an incredibly strong personality.

I don't know if anyone's uncomfortable with this topic, I know I'm not, I find it very interesting.

I'm sorry that your parents would disapprove of your sexuality. How strongly do they feel about it? Is a religious thing or what?

      oh and about my parents

im thinking it is religious, cause their religious

and im not, obviously, i actually tell them i despise our religion and that its all heresay

but they always resort to religion and they think gays adopting is wrong and marrying is wrong and they think

"what if your neighboors were gay and they kissed in front of YOUR kid"

then i said "ill never have kids #1, and #2, who cares if they did?"

they are just, old fashioned, funny cause in greece 2000 years ago many many guys were openly gay and were accepted,...meh

The more now I think about accepting myself and who I am, the better I feel, I almost feel like im discovering myself a bit more, being honest to myself, but the next step is to be honest to everyone else. All these years, pretending to be something I'm not, it eats me alive...I had to tell someone, and you guys were that someone/people.

I'm so thankful for Dreamviews, i'm learning about lucid dreaming, my own sexuality, and how to deal with it...and i'm just so thankful for being part of this wonderful forum, you guys are all too kind and generous and always leave such sweet comments, you guys are all sweethearts! <3

Anyways, another obstacle, my relatives, and especially, my brother.

I know he would DEFINATELY NOT approve of what i am, i bet he would physically hurt me if i told him

My dad and brother have that whole 'masculine' thing going on, and if your not tough like them they put you down.

So on many occasions i get called a 'pussy' and a sissy, and a weakling...they almost seem to want to destroy my self-esteem

my confidence and self-esteem i admit is low, but ever since telling people about my orientation, im feeling a bit more confident in myself, maybe its because im knowing myself better...mah i gotta get some work done...any responses would be appreciated!

I wanna hear some suggestions maybe or something on what the heck I should do about telling people, and finding someone special.

omg, i just read an article on the new york times saying that bi-men aren't real, wht the hell kind of study was this?

they claim that bi men are just guys who won't admit their gay, HOW MATURE NEW YORK TIMES!

sorry but i think thats just a false study and totaly biased

they only tested a few 'bi' men

1/4th of them got aroused to straight porn with women

3/4th of them got aroused to men only porn

AND, they CLAIM no men get aroused to both pictures

OH I BEG TO DIFFER NEW YORK TIMES!!!!

where was i? they should of called me up!

im living proof that the new york times just lied out of their liberal asses lol.

how dare they claim that a study of a few men represents the entire human race? another biased stupid retarted opinion driven article, good job NYT!

reminds me of their POLLS they take for politics LOL

they poll like 1000 people, and then they call it accurate, their saying that 1000 people represent the entire voting nation of america...

sorry but, new york times, YOUR FUCKING RETARTED!

:ahem: sorry i got mad! lol but theyre just wrong!

real bi guys exist,.....can anyone please tell me how this garbage gets passed on as 'news'?

      Straight as a board.

Even if I was a female, I don't think guys would stand a chance. Women just too amazing. Heh.
