Gravity's useful, but what justification is there for the mass/energy speed conversion? Not trying to argue, I'd just like to hear what you think about it.

What other reason could people have for being "altruistic"? Nobody does anything unless it has a net benefit for them (unless they're being stupid). It's either to make themselves look good, to make the world a less miserable place for them to live, or to get that happy, fuzzy feeling from doing something nice. I think it's a perfectly good reason for people being nice.
And I was somewhat annoyed by your assertion that half of all people should be straight and half of all people should be something else (I assume gay, which is completely ignoring bisexual people). But that would actually solve a lot of the overpopulation problems and lack of adoptions.

I think that most of what is really wrong with the world boils down to this:
-people being jerks
-people being stupid (may include most or all of example 1, your opinion may vary)
-the fact that we not only have pain, but need it to survive

There may have been something else, instead of one ofthe first two, but if it was a different one I don't recall it right now.

Edit: A more specific example is the burger king burget shots commercial. Which is to be filed under "people being stupid."
