Yeah - I suggest we hold off on closing the entries until we have at least four or five onboard!

I wouldn't be averse to just postponing this a week, seeing as how we have two "regulars" with computers out being serviced.

What do you say, L.S.? We've only two entries so far...

Hmm, okay, well if we leave this task on hold for now and see how thngs go up till the end of Tuesday. And if there are no more submissions we can start the next task and see if we get a good amount of entries, then the next week we can re-submit the current task, hopefully then we will have more people joining in since it would be a cool task for everyone to get involved in.

What do you think? After all the next task is fairly simple, just a solo improv over a backing track.

      Let me know.

Sure stuff, but Oneiro, yours was pretty darn good, i thoroughly enjoyed it, why would you want to do it again?

But if you want to do it again, yes you can do.

I dunno LS.. I just feel there is too much echo masking too many "fluffs".. given more time, I think I can do a much better job.. or, at least, I hope I can! It's a really tricky task this week, for me, at least.

I like your idea of a slow improv over a backing track btw.

Damn. I'm going to have to opt out, this week, gentlemen. I'm an absolute n00b at blues (though it's a style that I definitely plan to develop in) and what I'm able to do now is so novice and slopped together, that I don't believe it belongs in this week's contest. I've definitely learned a lot on the past week, though. And I'll definitely give a shot at an improv over a backing track, if that's what we plan on doing for this coming week.

So who's all in it? Is it just Oneiro and pj? Nobody else?

Yeah, I've been sick the last little while and have no energy to record for this week. Sorry guys.

The improv over a backing track is definately doable for me, though.

Should the voting still go on even though we have just 2 people entering?

Let me know what you guys want to do about this one, i'm quite happy to set the voting going, but if you think that we need more entries, then maybe like said before we could postpone it to a later date so that that way we can have more entries.

I can't wait to do the Gilmour blues task, it looks to be quite some fun

I would rather see this one postponed or skipped, as I seem to be the only one here who is pleased with his entry.

      Let it slide.

Okay, we'll have this one postponed until after this next task coming up, that way it does not mean you wasted your time recording yours, Oneiro as well.

We'll proceed as planned onto the Gilmour blues task whenever everyone is ready. If all is cool i will submit the next task, all i need is the go ahead.

I won't be partaking, my guitar is broken, the pickups are pretty much not responding at all, just found out at my guitar lesson. I've had enough of trying with this, there is always some sort of complication.

      Here is the task.

      Gilmour Blues Task

With the provided backing track, improvise a slow moving yet passionate and thoughtful solo. It must be slow and true to the genre. It also MUST be an improvisation, no planned solos in this one please. Take it slowly, maybe include a few short licks, some slow bends. Just be creative and take the track slowly, constant fast soloing is not permitted in this task. The backing track is a Gilmour blues which is slow and gives you lots of opportunity to express each and every note, so use it wisely to create something nice.

Here is the backing track - (WILL UPLOAD SOON)

Sorry the track is not up now, i've only got in, as soon as i have got it onto my computer i will upload it and put a download link up.

Best of luck with this one.

It's in a format that is only supported by Nero, and I don't have Nero. I've tried tracking down a free copy, but I'm having probs. I'm on dial-up btw.

LS.. you couldn't convert it to mp3 and re-upload it, could you? It'd save me a load of hassle. Cheers.

I can probably do it, i did try to convert it to mp3 but there was no option for it. I'm currently having some problems with my night out arrangements which is a pain and theres problems all over because of one person telling people the trains are off when they are not. So if this gets cancelled i will have it up in about an hour, but if not then it will most likely be late tonight i convert it unfortunately. Sorry, i will do it, but i need to make sure its all okay.

Thanks pj, you didn't have to do that, but thanks anyways

I really want to partake in this since it was one that i was looking forward to. I guess that my luck hasn't been so great recently.

No big deal at all - this is what I was doing this evening anyway.

You made it TOUGH going with a freakin' THREE MINUTE PLUS improvised guitar solo requirement! What were you thinking?

Anyway, here's my entry, warts and all:

      Thank you!!!!!

This is my style of playing, really. I'm no shredder.

I forgot to mention the instrumentation:

It is the Steinberger, jacked straight into the E-Mu with a rectifier type amp emulation. I kicked in a phase shifter in the last cycle just to keep it interesting.

      VERY Nice, pj!

I'm still a novice at navigating around the fretboard, but after I warm up a little bit, I should have something ready soon.

Yeah, once I figure out the right notes I'll have something cool sounding. This is a very Pink Floydish beat, and well...
