Advice needed from fellow joggers :D

Hey everyone I was hoping about getting some advice from fellow joggers out there!

So, during the summer I can go running a lot, and I build up quite the distance ,lately I've been able to get up to 6km without stopping for a walk down. Sadly, as it gets colder, it becomes a lot more difficult to put the shorts and t-shirt on and head outside into the cold to start running .

Has anyone got some suggestions that might motivate me to get out there and keep running?

I don't want to join a gym because I don't feel I should pay for something I can do for free. I also feel like such a hamster in a gym.

I was thinking about buying a treadmill, but again I'd feel like a hamster.

Nothing beats the suburban jungle for me! Main roads, side streets, parks, bush tracks, natural and man-made obstacles I love it!

But don't wanna give up over the winter months.

You sure you can't find an indoor track to run on? That's my main suggestion. Does it snow a lot, where you are? (If not, why not run outdoors anyway?)

Winter... I usually went to the gym's indoor track. DDR was alright, and occasionally I'd go to tall buildings just to run up and down the stairs. But if you don't want to take the chance of looking strange, just stick with the indoor track. Besides, with gym membership comes the opportunity to broaden your workout, alternate with bikes, rowing, swimming, basketball.

When it's cold I usually put on a tracksuit, it keeps me warm and it's loose enough.

Ninja Rule #1: Exercise is important, but jogging is for wimps. Plenty of exercise can be had leaping from bushes and kicking joggers in the head.

Got that from my ninja poster

Try finding another form of cardiovascular exercise. If you build up your distance too much your knees are going to feel it later on in life.

      Thanks for the responses guys!

I'll give the tracksuit pants a go, might be an idea to run round the block once or twice to get really warmed up and then take them off if they are annoying.

I do have some other exercises that I do indoors like push-ups, sit-ups, have a Swiss ball, and there is a metal bar at the oval I can use for pull ups.

It doesn't get "that" cold and it doesn't snow, but due to work and studying I usually find myself jogging at about 9 - 10pm, when the wind has picked up and is colder, and the air is just so unwelcoming haha. It's all relative I suppose, growing up in different parts of the world we all have different levels of tolerance, anyone who lives in Greenland would call me a pussy straight up I bet .

I think it might be time I take up a team sport to compensate for the reduced amount of jogging, hope it isn't too late to sign up for rugby!
