I'm semi-retarded I can barely read an analogue clock. It takes me, sometimes, a very long while to process the numbers. Forget military time!

Right now I'm wearing a cheap watch I picked up from CVS. Water Resistance is a necessity. A timer and stop watch function are nice additions.
I've had 2 or 3 $30. Sporty Timex watches but no one around here replaces batteries and after I killed one of them I finally gave up and went to disposables.

I collect anything box-like lol. I don't know what fascinates me about them, but I have lots. Now I guess I should find one with a clock in it

Hey, it's not like you were complaining about the analogue... so you're exempt.

I tend to lose more expensive watches. I like the stopwatch as well, so I lean towards a digital watch. However, I received a nice looking analog watch, but I don't have a real reason to wear such a nice watch on a regular basis, yet. I'll start wearing it when I get an office-job or something.

I keep my digital on 24-hour time. It took a few days to get used to looking at the PM time, but now I instantly know that 14:56 is 2:56pm. It's just my personal preference.

On my alarm clock I've been using 24-hour time for awhile, and now when it sometimes randomly switches to 12-hour time and that ugly AM or PM is there I immediately switch it back, sometimes with a grunt of disgust, so strong is my attachment to 24-hour time now

Of course whenever someone asks me the time, no matter what I'm referring to, 24-hour digital or analogue, I always say it in 12-hour style My thing is I just much prefer the look of, for example, 14:25 to 2:25pm. Who knows why...

That is one hell of a watch. Too bad it's so cluttered

A mobile phone isn't a replacement for a watch, because with a watch, you are twice as fast as opposed to a mobile phone

Yes...because people's mental capabilities have always been determined by how long it takes them to tell time on analogue clocks. Yep...those who prefer the simple convenience of being able to know what time it is at first glance are doomed to a life of mental incapacity...or semi-incapacity, as you describe. I guess if you're semi-retarded, that's close enough.

      Yes
If you look on your watch a lot, in the end, it might save you a whole minute! Great, isn't it?

Anyway, I just prefer a watch. Besides, mobile phones are digital and I'm done with that. I just like a watch on my wrist. It's a piece of clothing.

Here's a picture of mine. The Pulsar P2, the first mass produced digital watch.
Supposedly concieved by Stanley Kubrick for 2001 a space odessey.
Also worn by Roger Moore in Live and let Die.

Nearly as old as I am. Made in 1973.

I just bought a new cheapo at Wal-Mart yesterday, went with an analog that also has a digital time/stopwatch/date display. It's got a nice padded band, too. Rather cool for $13...

When I get some spare cash, though, I'm going to get a nice rugged watch that will stand up to more and actually be a good piece of equipment.

I have an analog watch, a beautiful omega and I'm afraid to wear it most of the time! It actually needs a new link so I haven't worn it as much as I did when I first got it.

I also have a digital watch for the gym, keeps track of heart rate and exercise length and all that fun stuff. Unless I was using it for some sort of sport, like scuba or working out or out hiking or something, I don't think I'd have a digital watch. The majority of them are just kind of bulky and ugly, most of the analogs I've seen are a bit classier. That's not to say that this doesn't flip flop, and yes it depends on the individual name and design, but that seems to be a general trend. Digital watches look very ugly and clunky on my tiny wrists I also think that when I was younger most of the watches were still analog, and so to me that seems like the traditional every-day watch.

On the other hand, in about 4th or 5th grade I did have one of those sweet little talking watches. I don't know if anyone remembers those, from 1997 or 1998? I had a red one, he was like the bad-tempered one of the group and would scream shit if you pressed a button. Can't find the name of the brand now though

I agree on the digital watches. If you have thin wrists they just kind of sit there as a lump.

They're not so much thin as in general I'm relatively tiny, just the size of my wrist and hand in general are much smaller than the average guy and I'm on the smaller end of the spectrum by women. If I end up with some sort of generic digital watch that can also be worn by men, it just looks insane.

I've never liked wearing watches or any sort of jewelry, and doubly dislike having the time staring me in the face, so I wouldn't be a candidate for a wristwatch in any case, but it's a rarity to see them on anyone these days except ladies in pantsuits.

I think for the average person, cell phones have replaced the wristwatch as an everyday timepiece.

You're joking right? Where are you from? Everyone I know has a watch, which brings me onto something I noticed once on a work night out.

I work in a fairly large company as a Business Analyst, so my role is to perform analysis on our systems, processes and products, and essentially improving them, so the team of analysts I work with have to be creative, outside of the box thinkers and that sort of thing. However, we're all managed on our projects by project managers, who are not required to know low level system information or details, and are not really methodical in their processing, but do need to manage. Now, I get to my point, at the meal I noticed that all the analysts (10+) had their watches on their right wrist (including me), bar maybe one, and all the project/programme managers had theirs on their left wrists... I wonder if there's any reason for that, or if it was just coincidence?
