I think it's still all right to have preferences. A heterosexual man is still a heterosexual man, even if he has preferences for certain types of women.

While pansexuals don't care about gender (and neither do I), I still prefer some over others. I'm a picky-pan, I guess.

So let me get this straight. (pun not intended) Pansexual is similar to homosexual?

      Just to clear things up:

HETEROSEXUAL : Attraction to the opposite sex/gender

HOMOSEXUAL : Attraction to the same sex/gender

BISEXUAL : Attraction to the male and female sex/gender

PANSEXUAL : Attraction to all sexes/genders/in between (males, females, trans folk, hermaphrodites, etc.)
      - described as 'gender blind' because sex/gender is unimportant to them

ASEXUAL : Attraction to no one/to be without sexual desire
      - but can still have intimate relationships; lacking in sexual urges, not romanticism

POLYSEXUAL : Attraction to more than one sex or gender
      - bisexual implies there are only two sex/gender binaries (male and female); polysexuals are attracted to many different select ideas, ethnic groups, characteristics, genders, sexes, etc.

I separate gender and sex in these descriptions because they are indeed two different things.
Gender is what you feel, sex is what you are. This is why transsexuals/transgenders get surgery - they feel that their gender doesn't match their sex or vice verse.

The easy way to remember is gender is between the ears (mental), sex is between the legs (physical).

I only have sex when I feel an intense attraction/pull to someone. I've only ever felt that pull towards men. But I check out woman and flirt with them often. Though I only want to look at or look like other women, but I want to climb all over and chew on men.

      So yeah, straight.

Pansexual means that you don't care about their sex/gender. Like, if your girlfriend/boyfriend was the opposite sex, it wouldn't bother you. Bisexual is attraction to both sexes/genders, and you usually have a preference.

Pansexual means you don't care about gender/sex at all.
Polysexual means you like select genders/sexes/ideas/ethnicities/characteristics (goes beyond the scope of gender/sex). i.e. "I like men, male-to-female trans, latino hermaphrodites, people with feminine characteristics, with these ideas and beliefs." Or something along those lines.

Let's put it this way: There is a plate of cookies. Most people see the plate as only two kinds, oatmeal and chocolate (male and female). But in reality there are more than only two gender/sex binaries. You've got people who are pre- and post-transition (trans people) and hermaphrodites. So there are many, many different kinds of cookies.
Bisexuals only like oatmeal and chocolate.
Pansexuals don't care what kind of cookie they get, whether it's oatmeal, chocolate, or any other kind of cookie that's there. As long as they have a cookie, they're happy.
Polysexuals like more than one cookie, but they see beyond the oatmeal and chocolate. They see all of the flavours like a pansexual, but prefer to pick and choose. Perhaps they like the shape of the chocolate and the taste of the macademia, as well as the shortbread cookie and the sugar cookie. They like more than one cookie just as the bisexual, but go beyond the scope of simply oatmeal and chocolate, or male and female.

Bi means "two" - they are attracted to two genders/sexes, male and female
Pan means "all" - they are attracted to everyone
Poly means "many" - they are attracted to many people, but not all

Poly is like in between bi and pan, they like more than two but not all.

I think I might be gay. I saw this penis on the internet today, and I thought to myself, well that's...that's just fine.

      lol...

I go through periods of alternating between bisexual, heterosexual, pansexual, and asexual...so I really just have no idea nor would I try to put a label on it. This would seem to be incongruence with the rest of my beliefs/characteristics. I confuse myself all the fucking time.

Neeners, If I were to apply a lable to you, it would be *human*. It seems people have this overwhelming desire to put themselves into well labeled boxes.

Well, I'm young so a lot of people believe I am too unexperienced to make that decision but ever since I was the age of three I was attracted to both male and females... It didn't really intensify until recently. It used to be only a sexual attraction to females and more of an emotional attraction to males but I met someone who changed that. Anyway, currently I can not date anyone. Not for another full year... when I am "old enough" by society's standards. Anyway... I can go on forever about the topic. I was a polyamorous bisexual. Now I have been forced into asexuality. lOl. Thats life... labels that technically don't have any control over what you feel or your actions yet are still enforced.

Actually I just read over what pansexual is and I think that sounds more like myself. If I fall in love with someone it doesn't matter what sex or gender they are.
