Account Makeover -- Username, Avatar, the lot

I've finally returned after years of absence. I doubt anyone remembers me; I didn't post much. I was more of a lurker. <EDIT: I've just realised that I did post a fair bit... this is my 99th post, so I'd like my 100th to be something special.>

Anyway, when I started, I think I was 12 or 13 years old. I thought my username was a funny little joke, and I was quite proud of my animation skills to make my avatar.

Obviously, I now realise that both of them are lame. So Lame. So I decided to get a new username, and then I'll make an avatar and sigpic that go with it.

So my problem is, I don't want to pick a username which I'll regret in a few years. I was hoping I could get some suggestions/advice, and then this thread can be sent away to remove all trace of my old profile here.

For the username, I wanted something cool, maybe to do with my name. My name's Tim, and my surname starts with a C.

In my brainstorming session (in other words, any ideas that came to me while I browsed Dreamviews), I was thinking of something like my initials spelled phonetically, like TeaSea, or TeeSee, or TeeJaySee. Or, I could use my name in a longer word, like Timpani. A third option was just to have Tim, or TimC.

Could you guys advise me on what seems the least weird, or the most interesting? I don't want to make a decision I'll regret.

Or you could use something completely unrelated to your real name. Like one of your favorite characters in a book. Hey.. That gives me an idea. I might just change my name to Kvothe.

Could you make an anagram out of your name?

My real name is April Dawn [insert a color]. How boring is that lol. So, I've always had a knack for making up names. The name of my youngest daughter is Zee'Arra Junell.

My other on-line names have been AprilD (my first lol), NeAmberina (when thinking about having an on-line business selling New England Art Glass); then Xyleisha and finally Zhaylin. I don't know if I made it up, but I've also gone by Cylontrianna.
Just have fun with your name. Be creative without being childish

(unless that's just who you are- a prankster type).

You remember it? Is that bad or good?

Looking at it now makes me feel quite sick. Like when I look at photos of myself from when I was 12. I was proud of making it then, but now I can't take myself seriously, let alone expect other members to take me seriously.

Also Marvo, do you have any suggestions or ideas for a new username?

I've read you can PM Man of Steel (if I remember his name right) but make sure to grovel, give a GOOD reason, and be SURE you like it -- you only get one change.

Nice, except it doesn't have the direct sexual reference... so without the backstory of 'wetdreamer', it would make little sense.

I want an awesome nickname, but it's taking me a while. I'll devote my full attention to it in 10 days; my exams will be finished then.

I love her name and so do most people. She goes by Zee or Zero (nickname given to her by a friend).

Sometimes, Jane Smith is good too. I was talking about this in another thread, possibly a whole other forum actually. I have a unique name too (although it's more a combination of a rare first name and extra-rare surname) and I don't like knowing that if someone googles my name, they can know for sure that the info they come up with is about me and not some homonym.

I know this post is old, but... I loved The Name of the Wind too! My name is actually a variation of the name Dianora from the fantasy novel Tigana.

Anyway, with names in general, I find a lot of what makes a name is just the person behind it. After time, when people get used to you, they start associating the name with you and it becomes yours. And how people view your username will have little to do with whatever letters make it up, and more to do with your personality. It took me a while to realize that. Before, I'd look at usernames of people I liked and wished I had one as good. Whatever username you choose, unless it's something really bad like "woeifjwief", it will turn out fine.

I mean, the name Kvothe sounds horrendous to me. So do other names from fantasy novels, like Frodo, and the girl Vin from Mistborn (addictive amazing series), and FitzChilvalry from The Farseer Trilogy (amazing series). None of those names on their own sound very good to me. But after reading the books, I've come to associate the names with the people behind them, and so the names themselves seem outstanding now.
